Principal Clarinet Auditions The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra announces an opening for its Principal Clarinet position. Auditions will be held on the afternoon of February 3, 2018. Interested applicants should submit their resume to [email protected] by January 5, 2018. Depending on the number of applicants, the orchestra reserves the right to invite a limited number of players to audition. Auditions will be confirmed on January 8, as well as location and times. The orchestra will not provide music excerpts for the audition. If any clarification is needed for an excerpt, please contact the orchestra office in advance of the audition and your question will be forwarded to the committee. The orchestra’s rate per service is currently $75.00. AUDITION REPERTOIRE SOLO Mozart Clarinet Concerto, K. 622 Movement 1 ORCHESTRAL EXCERPTS Rimsky-Korsakov Capriccio espagnol Movement 1: A through first measure of letter B Rossini Overture to Semiramide 5 after K to L Prokofiev Peter and the Wolf Rehearsal 20 – 21 (on A or Bb) Mendelssohn A Midsummer Night’s Dream Scherzo. Beginning to B (mm. 1-48) Verdi La Forza del Destino Overture, G to H Herold Overture to Zampa Solo at Piu Lento to the fermata at the end of the solo. In some editions, the tempo may be marked as plus lent.
