This is how I spent my day. At 8.15am I patrolled traffic with the TravelWise team. I got to use a speed gun or as the Policeman would say “laser”. Then I went to the office and ordered a yummy lunch. I handed out certificates at the mini assembly for Year 4 only before I checked in on some of the senior classrooms. Next I gave Mr Rankin an appraisal and he passed – yay. At 10.40am I had a yummy morning tea in the staffroom before I was interviewed by the Courier newspaper and had some photos taken. I viewed some students’ work and gave out Principal’s stickers and I also gave myself a sticker. Next a visit to the all boys class to see what is special about their class. Then it was reading time with Ms Lee’s little students. Time for photos with the crazy media team who interviewed me. At 12.30pm I was on lunch duty with my best friend Tyler Galloway. After lunch I met Point View School’s Foundation Principal, Mr Shroff before I did a property check with Mr Hickson. We found a book on the field and gave it to the office for somebody to claim. Then at 2.15pm it was time to write the newsletter and that is what you have just read. I think my favourite part of being Principal is giving out certificates. The middle school ESOL groups made damper bread after reading the story The Little Red Hen. This was part of a focus on changes in cooking. We talked about 'bossy' verbs and matched verbs with the correct picture. Other listening and speaking tasks included a barrier game and a recipe dictation. We sure had fun helping Mrs Kingston make the bread!

How do you travel to and from school? Point View’s Walking School Bus would like you to take a minute to think …… think of taking the traffic problems away from around our school and away from the wider school community. Now think of our wonderful Walking School Bus!! It is fun for the children and parents, children are more alert when they get to school and they get there on time without any fuss, and it’s great to be part of the walking school bus community. It is time for a change! We can all help our environment by cutting down the running times on our vehicles and we can reduce the stress of getting to school. There are three Walking School Bus routes. See what works for you and your family. Contact Marion Galloway WSB Coordinator on 021 325 376 or [email protected] or go to the school website and click on community then walking school bus.

Thank you to the fabulous committee who worked tirelessly to bring together all the elements needed to make this a fantastic community event. The rain stayed away and the people kept pouring in the gates to enjoy amazing food from all around the world, children queued up for games, pony rides and the chance to have fun with friends and family. Adults took the opportunity to grab a bargain, from the wonderful home baking to the mysteries of the garage sale stall. Thank you to everyone for your support on the day and in the lead up. Watch for breaking news on the final result of funds raised.

Twilight Market By Sienna Walmsley Room 14

Last Friday I was mixed with happiness and nervousness while I was walking down with my Mum to the Twilight Market at Point View School. I was happy because I was going to go on all the different activities and I was nervous because I was going to perform my dance called ‘Here we Come.’ First I had to warm up and stretch. Pretty soon after that we went on stage. I dance for the Storm Troupe. The starting music was mixed up a bit but it finished well. I was excited when I had finished dancing because the crowd was cheering so loudly. I felt proud. After that I wanted to go on the zorb balls but the line was too long so my Mum said, ”Let’s go on something else.” So we went back to the hall to watch my sister Alicia and Kate’s sister Georgia do aerobics. They were good and everybody cheered. When it got dark we tried to go on the zorb balls again but now it was too late. It was closed. I was sad about that. So we went to the book shop and I got some books. Eventually we walked home and finally we got some dinner because we were too busy dancing at the Twilight Market and forgot to have some dinner. We had McDonalds. Yummy! I thought the Twilight Market was amazing to have at our school.
