PRINCIPAL’S COMMENTS
15th May 2015 ISSUE 7
Don’t forget our SunSmart Policy. Hats to be worn during
Terms 1 and 4.
Last week I was in Thailand in
very warm weather, but coming
back to Melbourne reminds me
just how cold our winters get.
Please make sure your
child / children are
dressed appropriately
for the cold weather.
Last week, some of our senior
students competed in the District
Cross Country Carnival. Students
had to run either 2 or 3
kilometres, depending on their
age. Whilst our students tried
really hard and had a good time
on the day, none of our students
will go on to compete at the next
level. To all students – well done!
A special thank you to Mrs.
Brooks for always being a very
effective and professional
Principal in my absence.
Next week is ‘Education Week,’
18th May - 22nd May
and as part of the week we have
put in place some school displays
at the Brimbank and Keilor
Shopping Centres. These displays
will proudly show our students’
work. I hope you can make some
time to go and have a look at the
displays. Thank you to Mrs.
Graham and Ms. Gavran for
setting the displays up.
During Education Week, on
Thursday the 21st, we will be
“Opening Up” our classrooms to
visits from parents and
prospective
enrolments
throughout
the day.
All classes will welcome parents
and friends into their room to see
just what happens during class
time. Students may be involved
in any classroom activity, or
specialist classes.
However, in the morning, we will
be having our school photos
taken and some classes may be
involved with that between 9 and
11am. So if possible, please visit
after 11:30am.
Parents are asked to make sure
their children come to school on
Thursday in school uniform for
class photographs. Class photo
envelopes have already been sent
home for parents/ carers to order
the selected pictures of their
child and or the class that they
are in. Parents are asked to fill in
the details and return the
forms with the money by
Thursday the 21st May.

PROGRAM
MATHLETICS NEWS For the month of April, the following
students have achieved a
Silver Certificate Award
in Mathletics.
3/4 Students:
Amanda La
5/6 Students:
Brandon Aquilina
Congratulations!
HAIR LICE We have recently had a number of cases of head lice in the school. Parents are reminded to check their children’s hair regularly to prevent infestation. If you find lice or nits (eggs) in the hair of any family member, please treat the whole family.
Chemists have a range of products available to treat head lice or nits. Any child or adult can be easily infected by head lice.
Regular checks and prompt treatment are the only means of keeping this problem under control.
Thank you to everyone for your assistance.
As part of the ‘Bulldogs
Friendly Schools Program,’
we were able to give away 37
footy tickets last week for
students and families to
attend the “Bulldogs versus
St. Kilda football game.”
This week we had a visit from
2 current bulldog players to
work with students in grades 3 and 4. They took
the students through a footy clinic which was a lot
of fun for everyone.
Thank you to the Western Bulldogs Football Club
for their support.
Students in grades 3 and 5 took part in the
Literacy and Numeracy Naplan testing. This took
place over three days and students were involved
in completing assessment tasks in Reading,
Writing, Grammar / Punctuation / Spelling and
Numeracy. These assessments will provide a
snapshot of how our students are doing at their
respective grade levels. The results of the tests will
be known later in the year. Naplan testing is only
a small part of a comprehensive set of
assessments that students do throughout the year
that our teachers collect and grade students on. If
you have any questions regarding your child’s
progress, please speak to your child’s teacher as
soon as possible.
PARENT CAR PARK RULES
May I remind some parents to
drive very carefully in our parent
car park and to behave in a
courteous and friendly manner to
other parents / carers and always
obey the instructions and advice
given by the car park attendant when he is on
duty. Having access to the parent car park is on
condition that parents / carers obey these rules.
These rules are in place for the safety and
protection of you and your children as they enter
and leave our school. Failure to comply with these
requests, may result in some parents / carers not
being allowed to use the car park.
