When you think back to high school, what first comes to mind? For many, it is the memory of a teacher or an extra-curricular activity. At Brunswick we are lucky to have talented educators who strive toprovide a high quality education and a natural side effect of this arepositive memories for our students.
The opportunities to get involved at BHS are endless. And forthose students with an area of interest for which a club does not exist, all it takes is a little initiative to create a new group.
Take for example Anna Callahan, one of our senior students. Annacame to me last year to inquire about our school food waste. She wascurious as to whether we had a formal composting program set up. Atthe time, we did not and she volunteered to start a group that wouldwork to solve this issue. Since then, Anna has been working toincrease student involvement and has been meeting regularly with var-ious agencies to help BHS manage our compost.
When Anna looks back, I hope that her work on this club is one ofher cherished memories. I also hope that all of our students will getinvolved in something that they are passionate about. I encourageeveryone to get involved to make memories that can be treasured inthe future!
As we look ahead, there are many events at BHS to lookforward to, so please visit BHS’s website(http://www.brunswick.k12.me.us/bhs) to stay up-to-date.
