Principal’s Report
Welcome to Term 4
Thank you to all who kept Freddy in their thoughts
after such a terrible accident. We are grateful and
proud of those who took action to help the family
when it was most needed. After speaking to Rachel,
Freddy is expected to make a full recovery in time.
Great news!
There are many events in the planning stage.
Workshops began today.They include Photography,
Scrapbooking, Batik, Chinese Lanterns and Melted
Bead Suncatchers. The students keep most of the
items here at school so they can be entered in the
2015 Delegate Show.
Please make a time to talk to the classroom
teacher, as soon as possible, if you have any
concerns with your child’s academic progress at
school. Every student progresses at their own rate
and using the Literacy and Numeracy Continuums
and the Syllabus outcomes we can tell you where
your child is situated.
Sometimes we hear concerns about the teachers’
time out of the classroom. All schools are changing
through the introduction of different reforms. Under
the ‘Local School , Local Decisions’ banner there
are twelve reforms taking place. I have attached a
diagram showing the twelve reforms. Over the next
newsletters I will select one of the reforms so you
will gain a better understanding of our commitment
to Quality Education for all. The first reform I have
chosen is ‘Every Student Every School’. As you
can appreciate each reform requires professional
learning. We are a small team and must implement
these mandatory reforms. Although these reforms
take time and there are some hiccups the changes
are positive and will benefit your children. Please
take the time to read each one as it may help with
the big picture and explain why we do what we do.
Have a great week!

ISSUE 14 – TERM 4 - WEEK 2
Around the School During this fortnights Positive Behaviour for Learning
Program students learnt about the Bullying Triangle,
and the responsibilities of a bystander. The lesson,
titled Be an Upstander, focused on the important role a
bystander plays in a situation whereby someone is
being targeted. To develop an understanding in this
area the students engaged in a digital media activity,
participated in a science experiment and created their
own mind map (below).

This week in 3456 In Literacy this term we have been
responding to texts by rolling dice.
During the modelling phase I read a
chapter of our class serial,’
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s
Stone’. The student roll his/her
dice and focus on that
comprehension strategy. We will
then roll the dice before our
guided reading groups and then
proceed to individual responses.
In Numeracy, we have been
revising our Addition and
Subtraction skills and applying
them to solving problems.
We hope the Year Six students
are having a wonderful learning

Inter-school Equestrian Championship 4 - 6 October, 3 days of competition
for Kindergarten to Year 12 riders.
On Friday the 3rd of October the Dunn family set off on a 6 hour journey down the coast to the Worrigee
Equestrian Common, near Berry for a full on 3 days of equestrian competition The three Dunn girl’s Brigid
(10) Year 4, Mackenzie (8) Year 2 and Georgie (7) Year 1, had great success over the three days competing
in the Hack Ring, Show Jumping, Sporting, Working Equitation, Hunter Class and the inter School Challenge.
Mackenzie took out Year 2 overall rider for the 3 days and Georgie doing the same for Year 1. Two other
achievements that stood out were, Georgie won the Hunter Class for 65cm out of all the primary students and
Mackenzie had the fastest Western Bending time for the Primary students, these were great achievements
with the high level of riders and horses at this event.
Delegate Public School were runners up in the highest point scoring school which was a testament to the girls
as they only had three students riding.
The Girls should be proud of their achievements as is the Delegate Public School Community .
