Dear Parents/Carers Eglinton Dance Program Congratulations to our Dance team for the fantastic work they have put in under the support and direction of Peter Hanlon, Jayne Evans and Lisa Roberts. This group was only one of two Primary Schools performing at this weeks Western Dance Festival. They did an outstanding job with two members Amy Cole and Matthew McCauley interviewed by Prime News. Well done to all team members. Eglinton P & C. We had a very productive P & C Meeting on Tuesday night. This core of parents, along with many parents who align their support to the various sub-committees, do an outstanding job and work long voluntary hours to ensure the success of Canteen, Bands, OOSH, Clothing Pool, Gymkhana & Country Fair, Fundraising and general support for school activities. All this work contributes to the great culture of our school and increases the learning opportunities and wellbeing of all our students. Athletics Carnival Our Athletics Carnival is coming up on Friday June 18, and the Canteen needs volunteers for the day. If you can help please contact Di Thorncraft on 63371205 on Mon., Wed. and Fridays. Eglinton Chess Team Our Chess Team compete this Friday at St Philomena’s. We wish them every success and will publish results in next week’s newsletter. Queen’s Birthday Just a reminder that this weekend is a long weekend. School will resume on Tuesday June 15. Netball: Today, Thursday our Netball team braves the cold of Orange to compete in the Divisional day of the State PSSA. knockout. PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE
ALL Kindergarten children are participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge as part of their library and classroom literacy activities. Year 1-6 can collect a reading log from Mrs Hicks or the Premier’s Reading Challenge website.
SKIPPING:
Years 3-6 are practicing their skipping skills in preparation for our Jump Rope for Heart Skip-a-thon on the last day of term. We are raising money to help the Heart Foundation and to also provide new skipping ropes for Eglinton Public School. All sponsorship money can be collected be-tween now and the last day of term. Please send sponsorship money into your classroom teacher. If you need a new sponsorship form please see Mrs Hicks. Alternatively children can register online through the Jump Rope for Heart website.
Western Region Dance Festival 2010.
Congratulations to the Year 5/6 Dance Ensemble, who represented Eglinton Public School at The Western Region Dance Festival on Tuesday June 8 They had a great day beginning with a dance workshop, then technical rehearsal, after lunch they performed in the Matinee and returned in the evening to dance their best performance of “Lean on Me”. Every member of the Ensemble looked very professional on the stage and they all enjoyed this great experience. They should all be very proud of their excellent achievement, after many weeks of rehearsals during lunchtime. Thank you to Jayne Evans for her training and choreography and Lisa Roberts for making costumes. So you think you can dance Eglinton? Yes ALL these children can ! CANTEEN NEWS Thanks to all those who had time to attend our
canteen meeting last week. It was great so see such a
lot of people with great ideas to make our canteen
bigger and better.
A new canteen menu will be issued very soon, please
watch out for it.
REMINDERS: We are unable to heat food • In line with our canteen’s safety policies,
we are unable to heat food in the micro-wave. Sorry for any inconvenience.
• If you send your order in a zip or plastic bag, you still need to add 10c to your order for the lunch bag.
• Athletics Carnival is on June 18 and the canteen will need lots of helpers on the day. We will ask for donations to sell on the day.
