Last Day of Term 3
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
BUILDING DEMOLITION
Over the holidays, work began on
demolishing the timber buildings at school.
Over the last three days, work has continued
and the remainder of the buildings and debris
has been cleared and levelled.
Work to restore power and security to the
Fed Shed is being completed as well as some
re-instatement and additions to asphalt areas.
While we have the opportunity, a new main
waterline will be installed from the meter at
the front of the school to our main school
building. This line will eliminate a number
of problem areas that continue to cause
issues and by following fence lines, it will make all future work simpler.
A big thanks to Mick Molloy (Axedale Plumbing 0429 397 200) for helping us out
with a couple of plumbing emergencies over recent weeks. Thanks also to Justin
Shaw Electrical for his work on the power and security aspects of the demolition.
We look forward to these sites drying out, removing the fences and then starting to
think about the possibilities for these spaces.
NEW BABY CONGRATULATIONS
Tahlia was very excited on Wednesday when her new baby brother Dustyn came to
school for a visit. Congratulations to Linda and Kris on their new addition.
MUSIC IS FUN
On Friday July 24th
our whole school will be travelling to Marong PS to take part in the Music is Fun
activity. Students have been learning some new songs at school over recent weeks and will be joining with
students from Marong, Lockwood, Raywood, Inglewood and Bridgewater schools to perform a number of
items. We will be travelling by bus. Please note as the performance finishes at 2.50pm we won’t be back at
school until about 3.30pm. For those who have paid the Excursion Levy at the start of the year, there is no
cost. For families paying item by item, there is a $9 cost. Permission forms will be sent home next Monday.

REGIONAL SPORTS EVENTS
Over the next two weeks, our senior students will be taking part in a number of regional sporting events.
Tomorrow our 4/5/6's and Gr. 3 girls will be playing in mixed and boys netball events at the Marong Rd.
Netball complex. They will play a number of matches through the day in a lightning premiership format.
Thanks to Deb Tuohey for umpiring and Michelle Mannes for coaching. We wish the students good luck.
Next Tuesday our senior girls will be joining girls from Eppalock and Goornong schools in the Girls
Regional Football Carnival and then on Wednesday, the boys will be taking part in the boys section along
with students from Eppalock. As well as the sporting aspect of the days, it provides a great opportunity for
our Grade 6 students to begin building some connections with students they will be attending Year 7 with
next year.
We wish all the students good luck and hope they enjoy the days, knowing they have performed to the best
of their abilities. Thanks to Mr. C for organising our involvement.
GOLFIELDS LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP
Attached to the Newsletter today is a membership form and an information brochure from the Goldfields
Library. Following the Grade 3-6 excursion to the Library last term, many students were keen to join up. An
added advantage for Axedale families is the weekly visit from the Mobile Library to the Axedale Park from
3.30-4.30pm every Wednesday for community borrowing. Membership forms will need to be returned to the
Library or Mobile Library, not the school.
