VIU Student Affairs Strategic Framework | 2018-2021 | (insert Department/Functional area name)

Learning outcomes must be able to be measured; if they can't be measured we shouldn't be doing them o Measurement – quantitative (involves more than counting); qualitative (survey, student reflections, testimony)

Measurement – for qualitative – students should be able to explain how for example, 'they changed their educational pathway based on an advising session'. To be a successful learning outcome we would have to determine the threshold for student success (I.e. 70% of those students polled were able to explain how 'they changed their educational pathway based on an advising session'. If the learning outcome is not successful, either the outcome designed is not appropriate or we have failed students in achieving that learning outcome.

In thinking about your Learning Outcomes, what is the impact to, or for Students
