By Sally [email protected]; 810-629-8282 This is the firstyear thatEpicCNCTrainingAcademywillparticipateintheCommunity Expo, and company CEOMikeParkerisexcitedfortheopportu-nity. “We’llbelocatedrightnexttotheFen-tonHighSchoolbooth,whichwillgiveusgreatexposuretoparentsandstudentswho can learn what we’re all about,”saidParker.“Noteverystudent is interested inattendingcollege.Thosewho are mechanicallyinclined sometimesgetlostintheshuffle.We’realsointerestedintalkingwith kids who wouldlikeamorehands-on,af-fordablemechanicalen-gineeringexperience.” Parker is just oneexampleofalong-timebusiness that is takinga fresh look at theop-portunities Expo has to offer to localbusinesses. “It’simportantforeveryonetoenjoyallthefunofExpo,butitreallycomesdowntodoingwhat’sbestforourmemberbusinesses,” saidShellyDay, chamberexecutivedirector.“Theshowisforourmembers;that’swhywe’rehere.”

Business is top priority at every Expo

KenandShannonBrant,ofColdwellBankerProfessionalsinFenton,continueto be theExpo’sMainSponsor, alongwithSharpFuneralHomes,generouslyallowingthepublictoattendtheExpoatnocharge.“WearehonoredtoworkalongsideSharpFuneralHomes,topresenttheExpotothecommunity,”saidShannon.She also heads up Expo planning fortheirrealestateoffice,aparticipantfortheentirehistoryofExposince1984. Visitorswillnoticeaspring-likesettingastheyentertheExpothroughthedoorsofFentonHighSchool.“We’reproudoftheentryway,whichalsoincludesphotosofarchitecturalinterest,takenofhomesinFenton,Linden,HollyandGrandBlancareas,”saidShannon. Therecordnumberofbusinessesandgroups that signed up for booths thisyeararesayingbytheirsupportofExpothatit’sabenefittotheirbusinesstobethere.“There’snowayabusinesscouldget5,000peopletowalkthroughtheirdoorsontheirown,”saidChairmanLindaHathaway.“Weprovidethisopportunity

forthem,thenit’suptoeach individual busi-nessororganizationtoattract visitors to theirbooth.”Cheryl Fons, whoopened Spa NaturelleinFentonin2013,par-ticipated in her firstExpo last year, andwillbereturningagainthis year. “It’s a goodway for the commu-nitytolearnaboutlocalbusinesses,” she said.

“We’repleasedtoletpeopleknowaboutournaturalproductsattheExpo.ManyofourproductsareMichiganmade.” Attractingvisitorstoaboothisuptothe business, providing its own décor,giveaways,etc. Thisyear,boothswillbecompetingfora$300OfficeLunchprizetoachambermemberrestaurant,awardedtothebooththatrepresentsbestitsbusinessorindustry.

Fenton High School hasalways been the site of theExpo,asbothschoolofficialsandtheExpoCommitteecon-tinuetorespecttherelation-shipthatstrengthenscommu-nityties.“Itgivestheschoolachancetoshowcasetheirfacilitiesandresidentsofthecommunityanopportunitytoseetheinsideof theschoolbuildingatwork,”saidHathaway.“FentonHighSchoolisourhonoraryco-host.” Hathawaywasexpectingherdaughter,Angela, during those exciting days ofthe inauguralExpo31yearsago. Once you are comfortable in the shallow end we will take you towards the deep end of the pool and let you swim around for a few minutes.
