1. The LOT Department LO1 & LO2

The landscape of the Lot with its rocky region has some distinctive characteristic: the The Causse, limestone plateaus & spectacular cliffs, or holes made by water infiltration. With a wonderful architectural heritage, few traces of the industrial revolution and no modern urban development in sight, the area is well known as 'La France profonde' (Deep France) Option 1: All-day excursion to the Lot department, famous amongst other things, for its full-body red wines, the Cahors appellation* (Malbec or Cot grapes). Visit a reputed winery (Château de Haute-Serre for example) and enjoy a wine tasting along with a light lunch. Enjoy a guided tour to the pretty town of Cahors and its unique 14th C. bridge, Pont Valentré, considered the ultimate masterpiece of medieval military architecture. After, continue on to Saint Cirq-La-Popie elected in 2012 the ‘most beautiful village of France’. Then, if time permits, visit the Grotte Pech Merle, an authentic prehistoric cave, famous for its prints of hands. Option 2: All-day excursion to discover the Lot department in a different way: start with a guided tour of the Romanesque church of Souillac, with its famous medieval sculptures, then continue on with the village of Saint-Céré, with its typical food market, its narrow streets with leaning-over houses & over-hanging wooden balconies, discover the most impressive Castle of the Quercy, Castelnau de Bretenoux or Rocamadour, one of the most important pilgrimage places in France during the middle ages. Have a guided tour of this site, listed WHS by UNESCO and enjoy after some free time. 2. Dordogne Valley DVO1 & DVO2

Option 1

Excursion to the Dordogne Valley, where you will discover and enjoy one of the most outstanding medieval castles such as Beynac or Castelnaud. Then continue your discovery tour to the stunning troglodyte village of La Roque-Gageac, one of the most beautiful villages of France, situated at the Dordogne River. The visit will be followed by a boat ride on the majestic Dordogne River listed as "Bassin de la Dordogne" in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. After, take a tour of Château des Milandes (the home of Josephine Bakker, a famous Afro-American singer and dancer and who joined the French Resistance during World War II. Later in the afternoon, if time permits, enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent town of Sarlat. Option 2: In a spectacular and unspoiled countryside, discover the castle of Commarque, a jewel of medieval history, perched on top of a rock, surrounded by remnants of a medieval village and troglodytes, with evidence of traces of live dating back to prehistoric times. Continue to explore this area with a visit to a truffle farm where the owners will teach you how to grow, to hunt and to prepare truffles. A truffle tasting will end this interesting visit! End the day with a ride through an stunning landscape where you will discover some private chateaux and mansions high on top of a hill or rocks overlooking the Valley. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent town of Sarlat. 3. Cradle of Mankind COM

Spend a day at Europe’s most important prehistoric site, situated along the Vézère River. Discover this fascinating period of our humanity, the era of Homo Sapiens, with a private guided visit of the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies. Afterwards you will visit the unique grotto of Font de Gaume displaying prehistoric polychrome paintings or some other caves to see amazing engravings or the shelter of Cap Blanc where you will see life-size sculptures of horses and other animals. We will end the afternoon visiting La Roque Saint-Christophe and the village of Saint-Léon sur Vézère with its Romanesque church built along the river bank of the Vézère River.

Discover the lively town of Sarlat on market day (Wednesday & Saturday), with a guided walking tour of this historic town (10,000 inhabitants), a gem of Renaissance buildings that attracts more than a million visitors every year. During the visit you will have the opportunity to taste some of the specialties and delicacies of the region. Then, continue your exploration of the splendors of Dordogne by visiting the Gardens of Eyrignac, created in the XVIIIC and since then belonging to the same family. Visit after the village of Saint-Amand-de-Coly to see one of the rare fortified churches of Dordogne. Later in the afternoon, discover this fascinating prehistoric period of our humanity, the era of Homo Sapiens, with a visit to Lascaux II, the wonderful copy of the incredible prehistoric grotto of Lascaux. On our way back, enjoy a stop in Saint-Geniès for a walk in this medieval village to admire the church and castle, with their typical dried stone roofs, named ‘lauze’. 5. Chateau & Truffle farm CHT

This excursion will take you to the beautiful Château de Hautefort, an incredible Château and magnificent garden and parks. Here it looks like time has stood still. Each room is scrupulously maintained in its original set up, from the tapestries hall to the grand salon, from the kitchen to the lord’s bedroom: refined silks, chandeliers, parquet floors and furniture which bring you back to the 17thcentury! Then, carry on with a visit to a truffle farm where you will learn about the ‘Black Diamond’ and see a demonstration of truffle hunting before tasting some truffles during lunch at the farm. Included: Guided tour of the castle of Hautefort and its wonderful French gardens & truffle farm with a lunch

Option 1: You will be surprised to discover a large variety of excellent wines in the area of Bergerac. These wines are made with the same grapes as the Bordeaux wines but are much lower in price and by and large offer a great value. Visit a winery reputed for the quality of its red wines (Pecharmant appellation), the beauty of the vineyards and the warm welcome of the owner. Continue on with a guided walking tour of the town of Bergerac where you will encounter Monsieur Cyrano himself. After, visit an organic-grown vineyard and learn with the owner about the different Bergerac wines, including the reputed Monbazillac (white mellow wine).
