This Month’s Speaker – Mark Wolfson Mark Wolfson, retired Vice President of Henry’s, Canada largest independent camera retailer, is a graduate of Ryerson University Photographic Arts. In his near half-century in the photographic business, Mark has witnessed extraordinary changes to the equipment, materials and processes that once defined photography. Mark is a passionate photographer who has travelled extensively through many parts of North America, Europe, Asia and North Africa. His photographs hang in homes and businesses across Canada. In 2010 Mark donated his collection of vintage photographs to the Ryerson Imaging Centre in Toronto. Recently Mark has lectured at York University’s Glendon College Campus, Ryerson University and camera clubs across Canada. Mark’s presentation is going to focus on Travel Photography— the photo shows an Icelandic Pony that Mark saw on a recent trip to Iceland.

November SPEAKER – Doug Gibson Doug Gibson took us through a literary journey across Canada. His “show”, as he calls it, was filled with stories about Charles Gordon, Al Purdy, Margaret Laurence, Gabrielle Roy, Guy Vanderhaeghe, Grey Owl, who’s real name was Archibald Belaney, W.O Mitchell, Trevor Herriot, Margaret Atwood,Pierre Trudeau, Michael Ondaatje, just to name a few. Doug is a captivating story teller. Each author has been caricatured by Anthony Jenkins, who can capture the essence of a person with a one eyed portrait.

Thank You to Dan Hennessy for having chosen this very entertaining speaker.

USUAL REMINDERS

TRAVEL CLUB- VIETNAM with Paul & Mary Darby

THURSDAY JANUARY 21ST at 7 PM Chartwell Georgian Traditions 57 Trott Blvd

For many of us, Vietnam represents a tragic war that we grew up watching on news clips & reading newspaper headlines in the 60’s & early 70’s. As part of a 2 month trip to Asia, Paul & Mary had an opportunity to experience the country, starting in the South China Sea & then taking an 18 day land excursion from Hanoi to Chau Doc on the Mekong River. Come & hear about their experience on the other side of the world.
