Procedure to link the Excel file and the SolidWorks part 1. Open the Excel document and the SolidWorks part

2. Once the SolidWorks part is open you will need to click on the Configuration

Manager tab. Figure 1 shows where this is located. It might already be on this tab.

3. Now double click on the word “Tables” in the configuration manager tab and then right click on

the words “Design Table”. Select “Edit Table in New Window” as seen in Figure 2.

Figure 2: Select "Edit Table in New Window" to update the values of the parameters

4. A box called “Add Rows and Columns” might appear. If it does, just click OK as seen in Figure 3.

5. Then, open up the “Parameters” tab of the original Excel document and place it next to the

Excel document starting with the word “Worksheet in…”. Now, click on the box highlighted in

Figure 4 and press the “Delete” button on the keyboard. Then press the "Equals sign” on the

keyboard.

6. Now, select the box that you can see highlighted in the excel file on the right and press “Enter”.

7. Next, click on the highlighted box in the Excel file on the left and then click in the top on the

same Excel file and delete the $ sign in front of the letter B and press “Enter”. The $ sign that

needs to be deleted can be seen in Figure 6.

8. Now, click on the box highlighted in Figure 6 and then click on the lower right corner of the

same box (a small black “+” sign will be seen) and drag the box to the right as can be seen in

Figure 7.

9. The Excel document should now be linked to the SolidWorks part. You can check this by going

to the “Sliders” tab and moving the sliders as can be seen in Figure 8. The new parameter values

should update in the Excel file on the left. If this worked, then follow the rest of the tutorial to

make your car. If it did not work, try this tutorial again.
