PM-AGENT


• The PM-CONTROL server communicates with the remote WinCC servers via PM-AGENT. If one of the WinCC

servers isn’t available, the communication will switch to the second server.

• The relevant recipe data and/or jobs will be managed through the PM-CONTROL server on the separated computer.

The recipe data will be downloaded from the separated PC to the WinCC servers.

• A PM-AGENT license is required on both WinCC servers.

• A MSSQL Server Standard / Developer Edition installation is necessary on the separated PC (not included with

PM-CONTROL). Alternatively a local WinCC RT installation will also provide the necessary SQL Server installation.

• A PM-CONTROL server is located on both WinCC servers. Due to technical restrictions only one PM-CONTROL

server may be active at the same time, though. The relevant recipe data and/or jobs will be managed through the

currently active PM-CONTROL server. The recipe data will be downloaded to the local WinCC server.

If the active server is shut down for any reason, PM-CONTROL has to be started on the second server.

• The duplication of the database has to be performed in the background by using the WinCC Tool „Copy Project“

• All relevant functionality like the management of the startup of PM-CONTROL, the switch in case of a system outage

as well as the synchronization of the databases has to be performed either manually or by custom scripts. This

means there is no automatic synchronization between the two PM-CONTROL servers.

• A PM-QUALITY server is located on both WinCC servers. Each PM-QUALITY server will communicate with the local

WinCC server and will record the batch data independently. After the end of the batch / product batch the batch data

of both servers will be merged into an common export database by the Data Center. Possible data gaps on one of

the servers will be filled with the data of the respective partner.

• The Data Center may be either installed on a seperate PC (Option B / 1) or on one of the WinCC servers (Option B /

2).

• The PM-QUALITY Data Center installation doesn‘t require an individual license. The necessary license (PM-

QUALITY Type S Professional + Data Center) has to be provided by the two PM-QUALITY servers.
