  • ABOUT CLOD ENSEMBLE Clod Ensemble are a pioneering artist-led company based in London, founded by director Suzy Willson and composer Paul Clark. We exist to create genre-defying performance rooted in music and movement, which inspires a broad range of audiences, cross-pollinates ideas, and effects change. We deliver our aims through four strands of work: engaging audiences in provocative, finely crafted performance and participation projects; developing the next generation of artists through a rich programme of talent development; inspiring young people with music and movement in secondary and further education; and supporting healthcare professionals with our artist-led training programme Performing Medicine. Over 25 years, Clod Ensemble has created an extraordinary body of artistic work that pushes the boundaries of choreographic, music & theatre practice that is accessible to national & international audiences. We have collaborated with iconic venues incl. Tate Modern; Sadler’s Wells; Royal Academy of Arts; The Lowry; Wales Millennium Centre; V&A; Southbank Centre; and international venues incl. Serralves Museum Porto and Public Theater, NYC. We have worked across the world, in Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Armenia, Bulgaria, USA, Portugal. Our team of 10 full- and part-time staff is funded through a mixture of multi-year grant funding, project grant funding, venue fees and ticket sales and donations from individuals. Clod Ensemble is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (2018 – 22). COMPANY VALUES

    • Respect – for the people we work with, our audiences, our participants • Rigour – to work with total commitment and attention to detail • Risk-taking – to be bold and ambitious across our programme • Agility – to be flexible and to be ready to respond to opportunity

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - We are looking for someone to cover a 7-month period of maternity leave, with the possibility of extension to a maximum of 12 months. This includes at least 4 weeks of handover working alongside our current Producer at the start of the contract. The person taking on this role will shape and drive the company’s performance programme and be responsible for producing new artistic projects. We would like to work with someone who enjoys developing new partnerships, specifically with cultural venues, festivals & artists across the UK and internationally. We are interested in someone who is excited about working with a multi-artform company, and who has experience in at least one of the following; dance, theatre, music, visual art or live art. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key to this role, other essential skills include project & people management including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, financial administration & management, negotiating and writing contracts (understanding of union agreements such as ITC, Equity, Musician’s Union). Skills which would support this role, but are not essential, include knowledge of digital platforms, fundraising through trusts and foundations, and experience of participation and learning projects.

  • We have embraced the opportunity to address the inequalities and barriers to arts engagement and employment that Covid-19 has highlighted and exacerbated. We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to embedding best practice approaches to equality, diversity and inclusion across all of our activities. We’re looking for someone who will encapsulate the company’s values and who can support the delivery of our ambitions. A creative programme solver who welcomes new challenges, and who operates with integrity and openness. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our organisation during a period of renewal, where we are excited about creating and sharing new work. CURRENT PRIORITIES & ACTIVITIES Research and creation - Our creation process relies on regular studio sessions where multiple projects are explored, rather than having discreet rehearsal periods for specific projects. Projects in development two dance works and one music work, all of which require building new partnerships. Live programming – We have two performance projects which we aim to present in 2021/22. These are scheduled for May 2021 and November 2021, public health restrictions pending. These projects are to be delivered with existing partners. Digital programming – We are looking to develop our use of digital platforms and technology to extend the reach of our work. We have one completed work ready for distribution and one work in development. Working with our local communities - we have adapted projects in order to build relationships and trust with local residents, at a time when opportunities for participation in cultural activities are significantly reduced. Increasing the impact of learning programmes - We successfully moved our free programmes of professional development for artists, and education programmes with students online, reaching much bigger audiences
