For hydrostatic testing of diving and related high pressure cylinders the system features a test panel, test jacket and associated equipment. The system operates by hydrostatically pressurising the cylinder inside the jacket which is also filled with water and the volumetric displacement of water in the jacket by cylinder expansion is then measured on the panel mounted burette with any permanent expansion subsequently calculated to determine pass/fail. The jacket and panel are manufactured from mild steel with a hard wearing powder coat finish, the jacket features a coned lid to ensure no trapped air to achieve the desired level of test accuracy. Compliant for testing to all relevant standards including BS EN1802, BS EN1968 and BS EN ISO18119 when used with our latest addition HY-PAC (Hydrostatic Pressure Automatic Cut-Off) to meet over–pressure control requirements.

We recommend annual replacement of the burst disc and o-ring, this also provides an opportunity to check the integrity of the test jacket in this area. The o-ring and burst discs are suitable for standard Birchley / Octopus Test Jackets however if uncertain of the age / type of jacket we can confirm and also offer solutions for alternative sized jackets.

We recommend annual replacement of the jacket lid o-ring. These are supplied as 1 metre long o-ring cord which is then cut and bonded to suit the o-ring groove as not all jackets have the same diameter groove with different versions supplied over the years. We can also offer sealing solutions for non-standard jacket sizes.

The Mini-Core hose system features a high pressure, small bore hose assembly so when fitted with the appropriate cylinder adaptor can be screwed into the cylinder, the cylinder then lifted into the test jacket and a quick connection made to the jacket wall HP connection. The small, flexible hose makes manoeuvring inside the jacket much easier than bulky, larger diameter hoses. We also offer the same hose assembly for panel to jacket (jacket method) and panel to cylinder (non-jacket and proof method) connections. The jacket and panel are manufactured from mild steel with a hard wearing powder coat finish, the moving burette panel is made from brushed stainless steel. The jacket features a flat lid with quick release clamps for rapid removal / engagement and a high pressure quick connection on the underside of the lid for connecting the cylinder for lifting and pressurising.

The jacket is bolted to the floor with the moving burette and control panel wall mounted although console options are also available.

> MINI CYLINDER TEST CABINET

For safe and efficient hydrostatic testing of smaller sized cylinders such as Emergency Breathing System (EBS), Inflation Systems and Spare Air cylinders. The system features a mild steel powder coated cabinet with clear protective window to safely observe cylinders for leakage and deformation during proof testing. A three cylinder manifold is fitted to the top of the cabinet allowing up to three cylinders to be tested simultaneously by the proof method with a stainless steel grated base plate for any excess water to drain down into the lower cabinet sump which is then piped to a suitable facility drain.

Compatible with our standard proof test panel for a wall mount system although console options also available. Cylinders are typically filled with freshwater then a test adaptor with high pressure quick connection fitted which is then connected to the manifold at the top of the cabinet. Once hydrostatic testing is complete cylinders are emptied via the stainless grate into the cabinet drain sump then to the facility drain or recycled.

The Header Tank system can be added to all our hydrostatic test panel versions to provide the required water supply to the hydro pump with return drain line when the panel is vented so all water is recycled. Avoids connecting the hydro pump to mains water supply where higher pressure mains supplies can flow through the pump when the system is not in use and valves left open with potential to flood your facility. The Header Tank system will only drain the 18 litre tank should a system leakage occur.

The water is stored in a good quality 18 litre polyethylene tank which is wall mounted on a mild steel powder coated bracket. The standard system does not come with the required pipework or valves to connect to the hydro panel although these can be supplied either as part of a complete supplied system or from the dimensions you provide to suit your installation.

Larger header tank systems can be provided based on your requirements.

To meet the control device requirements of standards such as BS EN ISO 18119 Octopus Test Systems developed HY-PAC (Hydrostatic Pressure Automatic Cut-off). HY-PAC features a contact gauge to be fitted into the hydrostatic pressure circuit and a control box with solenoid valve fitted into the low pressure hydro pump air supply. The contact gauge is set to the desired over pressure prior to testing, if during testing an over-pressure situation occurs the contact gauge will trip sending a signal to the control box which in turn closes the solenoid valve which isolates the LP air supply so stopping the hydropump from increasing the pressure any further. The system also provides a significant advantage over conventional mechanical relief valves where the over pressure setting can be adjusted in seconds which is of particular benefit when dealing with multiple test pressures.

The cylinder invertor system provides a cylinder mounting and draining arrangement ideal alongside either a standard jacket test system or as a one-stop solution for proof or non-jacket methods. The cylinder is mounted and secured in the cradle, filled with water then either lifted from the cradle into the test jacket or tested in-situ by the proof or non-jacket methods. Once pressure testing is complete the cylinder is simply rotated in the cradle via the large frame mounted bearing blocks and a two-handed handle arrangement to drain into the stainless steel drain tank or a suitable bund / floor grating drain system. The system is compatible with the new rapid cylinder drying system so drainage and drying can be conducted in one fast, efficient action to eliminate the possibility of flash rust during the drying process.

The multi-cylinder invertor system provides a cylinder mounting and draining arrangement for proof testing cylinders such as SCUBA, Breathing Apparatus, Fire Extinguishers and equivalent sizes. The system allows three cylinders to be tested, drained and dried simultaneously to provide a fast and efficient cylinder test solution. The system features an overhead frame work and 3 cylinder cradle to allow the hydrostatic proof testing in-situ then draining / drying by rotation into either a supplied stainless steel drain tank or a suitable bund / floor grating drain system. High pressure pipe work is integrated into the overhead frame and pressure control is achieved by simply connecting our standard or large scale proof test panel.

The industrial gas cylinder invertor system provides a cylinder mounting and draining arrangement for industrial gas cylinders up to typically 50 litre size, 230mm diameter. The cylinder is mounted and secured in the cradle, filled with water for proof testing then once pressure testing is complete the cylinder is simply rotated in the cradle via the large frame mounted bearing blocks and a two-handed handle arrangement to drain. The Cylinder Vice Pro is a bench mounted V-style vice developed specifically for pressure cylinders to provide significant grip for activities such as valve removal and re-fitting/torqueing, stamping and boot removal with four rubber pads to protect all surfaces in contact with the vice. The Cylinder Vice Pro (pneumatic) is an air driven version of the CV1000. ISB1000

The ISB1000 provides a fast, effective internal shot blasting solution to remove surface rust, contamination and corrosion from high pressure cylinders.

It operates on the principle of a high pressure air supply combined with low pressure blast grit to provide a venturi action at the internal blast nozzle that rotates inside the cylinder with controlled vertical travel to provide full cylinder internal blast coverage in under 2 minutes. The system is an evolution of the Birchley Products Internal Shot Blaster, proven in service for many years, with many improvements and a modular design to provide simplified operation and ease of servicing.

The key features of the system are as follows:-

Rapid removal of rust, contamination and corrosion from all cylinder internal surfaces without removal of base material in under 2 minutes. Closed, sealed system with all grit reclaimed into a dust bag in the upper reclaim chamber. Blast power and vertical travel speed fully adjustable to deal with all levels of corrosion from light flash rust through to deep corrosion. Small foot print allows system to be installed with minimal workshop space required.

HOW DOES IT OPERATE?

The pressure cylinder (1) is inverted and placed on the neoprene seal and locked in place with the spider support. When locked in the support also provides a ‘stop’ on the carriage plate so the nozzle cannot contact the cylinder base upon full upward travel.

The lower pressure vessel (2) is filled with grit and pressurised to 5 bar via the control panel (3). The grit flows through the outlet hose (4) to the mixing pot (5) then up through the outer lance to the hardened nozzle (6).

A secondary venturi pressure supply feeds from the control panel to the mixing pot then up through the inner lance and meets the low pressure grit supply at the nozzle creating a venturi effect which provides the necessary grit velocity to achieve effective internal blasting.

Full internal cylinder coverage is achieved by a motorised carriage plate (7) which turns the nozzle, inner and outer lances to achieve constant rotation with axial travel driven upwards and downwards by a pneumatic piston (not shown) fully user controllable with axial speed control.

The grit is then reclaimed by gravity and low pressure in the cylinder driving the grit into the reclaim chamber (8) dust bag for collection with excess pressure being vented through the air filter (9).

Once the pressure vessel (2) is empty of grit the system is depressurised and the grit is gravity fed from the reclaim chamber back to the pressure vessel through a large ball valve.
