NFPA 13 Optimized SprinklersThe large orifice 6.9 K, 5.6 K and 5.8 K sprinklers are primarily intended for residential use where there is a 0.1 gpm/sq. ft. density NFPA 13 design requirement, and are generally used for installations in excess of four stories. They are optimized for residential applications where this higher water-flow demand is required, and can meet those requirements with less pressure and smaller pipe sizes.

:Q When a fire occurs, will every sprinkler in the house activate?
:A No, all fire sprinklers in a sprinkler system do not activate at once.. When a fire sprinkler activates, the sprinkler closest to the fire goes off.. In 90% of cases, one sprinkler is enough to suppress the fire..
:Q Can smoke trigger the sprinkler system?
:A No, burning toast, cigars and other smoke sources will not trigger a fire sprinkler.. Fire sprinklers are only activated by extremely high temperatures, and only a truly threatening fire can generate enough heat to activate one..
:Q Isn’t there a lot of water damage when a sprinkler system activates?
:A No.. A residential fire sprinkler uses only 38-95 liters of water per minute, and operates early in a fire.. A hose used by firefighters flows about 10 times that amount – around 473-946 liters per minute, which has the potential to cause much greater damage..
:Q Can a fire sprinkler go off accidentally?
:A The chances a fire sprinkler will accidentally discharge due to a manufacturing defect are about 1 in 16 million.. Overall, fire sprinkler accidents are less likely and less severe than accidents involving home plumbing systems..
:Q Won’t fire sprinklers look out of place in my beautiful new home?
:A Not at all.. RAPID RESPONSE sprinklers come in a wide range of colors and styles, ensuring they blend aesthetically with any home décor.. Plus, they’re small and unobtrusive..
:Q How much can I expect to spend on a RAPID RESPONSE sprinkler system?
:A Installing a fire sprinkler costs about the same as a flooring upgrade, and can save you up to 15% on your homeowner’s insurance premium..
:Q Does a home fire sprinkler system require a lot of maintenance?
:A No, after installation, nothing more than a simple once a year system testing is recommended..
