introDuCtionThis manual is a reference guide for Bayer CropScience products, listed alphabetically. However, it is essential that the label for each product is read before use.

Significant changes since last printingWhere significant changes have been made to the recommendations for any product since the previous edition of this guide was published, details are included under the heading: Significant changes since last printing for each product.

Pesticides: Legislation and safe useFor information regarding the legal aspects and save use of pesticides, reference should be made to: Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988 (COSHH) The Plant Protection Products Regulations 1995 which are available from HMSO. Additional information on the safe use of pesticides in the environment and guidance on the disposal of waste pesticides and containers is given in the MAFF/HSE publication Pesticides: Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Pesticides on Farms and Holdings published by HMSO. Soil textures mentioned in this booklet are based on those defined in MAFF ADAS Pamphlet 3001 Soil Texture (85) System and pesticide use.

LiabilityBayer CropScience will be under no liability for any loss or damage resulting from the manner of use of their products other than in accordance with the label recommendations which may not be varied, amended or added to except in writing by Bayer CropScience.

notES:1. The prefix organic is applied to the above mineral texture classes if organic matter levels are relatively high. The sands and loamy sands, however, appear organic when they only contain about 6% matter, whereas clays appear organic at about 10%. Organic matter levels between 1 and 10% cannot be detected by texture, and must be determined by analysis. 2. The prefix peaty is applied when organic matter levels are between 20% and 35%. Peat soils are those containing more than 35% of organic matter. 3. The organic matter percentages refer to the values determined by the chromic acid oxidation technique, and not by the loss on ignition technique which can produce considerably higher values. 4. The risk of herbicide leaching on stony or gravelly soils is greater and textural grouping for such soils may need to be modified. In stony soils, stone (particles greater than 2mm) content is 5-15% by volume. In very stony soils, stone content is more than 15%. 5. The prefix calcareous (Calc) is applied when soils contain more than 5% calcium carbonate.

Within minutes.

DiRECtions FoR UsEiMPoRtAnt: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. Aviator 235Xpro is a mixture of a carboxamide and triazolinthione fungicide recommended for control of a wide range of diseases on winter and spring wheat, triticale and winter rye.

CRoPsAviator 235Xpro may be used on all commercial varieties of winter and spring wheat, triticale, and winter rye.

RAtE oF UsEApply Aviator 235Xpro at: 1.25 litre per hectare in winter and spring wheat, triticale and winter rye. The maximum number of treatments is two per crop.

APPLiCAtionWater volumeApply Aviator 235Xpro in 100-300 litres water per hectare. The higher spray volumes are recommended where the crop is dense or disease pressure / risk is high to ensure good penetration to the lower leaves and stem bases. Disease control may be compromised by reducing water volumes, where good spray coverage is difficult to achieve. A spray pressure of 2-3 bar is recommended.

spray qualityApply as a MEDiUM spray quality (as defined by BCPC).

Latest Permitted timingIn wheat, triticale and rye Aviator 235Xpro may be applied at any stage before grain milky ripe stage.

MixingThoroughly shake the pack before use Add the required quantity of Aviator 235Xpro to the half-filled spray tank with the agitation system in operation and then fill to the required level. Continue agitation at all times during spraying and stoppages until the tank is completely empty. Spray immediately after mixing.

2

Aviator

235

Xpro

AviatorGeneralSprayers should be thoroughly cleaned with water and detergent after use, and filters and jets checked for damage and blockages.

235 Xpro

Boom height should be adjusted to ensure even coverage of the crop, particularly at later growth stages. The correct height is one at which the spray from alternate nozzles meets just above the crop, In dense crops, at later growth stages, higher water volumes should be used.

DisEAsEs ContRoLLEDWheat and triticaleEyespot (wheat only reduction of the incidence and severity), Septoria (leaf and glume blotch), powdery mildew, yellow rust, brown rust, tan spot, ear disease complex (Fusarium ear blight) and reduction of sooty moulds.

RyePowdery mildew, brown rust, Rhynchosporium.

APPLiCAtion tiMinGEyespot (Oculimacula spp.)Spray in the spring at the first sign of disease, from when the leaf sheaths begin to become erect until the 2nd node is detectable (GS 30-32).

Septoria Leaf Blotch and Glume Blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola and Stagonospora nodorum)Apply before disease is established in the crop. To protect the upper leaves and ear apply Aviator 235Xpro at full flag leaf emergence (GS 37) up to mid-flowering (GS 65). Where disease pressure remains high application may be repeated. Applications to upper leaves where S. tritici symptoms are present are likely to be less effective. Aviator 235Xpro contains a DMI fungicide. Resistance to some DMI fungicides has been identified in Septoria leaf blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola) which may seriously affect the performance of some products. For further advice on resistance management in DMIs contact your agronomist or specialist advisor, and visit the FRAG-UK website.

Powdery Mildew (Blumeria graminis)Apply Aviator 235Xpro at the first signs of disease. Where disease pressure remains high application may be repeated.

Aviator

235

Xpro

fungicide3

Yellow Rust (Puccinia striiformis)Apply Aviator 235Xpro at the first signs of disease. A second application may be made 2-3 weeks later if re-infection occurs. Applications made to established infections are likely to be less effective.

Brown Rust (Puccinia triticina, P. recondita)Apply Aviator 235Xpro at the first signs of disease. A second application may be made 2-3 weeks later if re-infection occurs. Applications made to established infections are likely to be less effective.

tan spot (Pyrenophora tritici-repentis)Apply Aviator 235Xpro at the first signs of disease in spring or early summer. Where disease pressure remains high application may be repeated.

Ear Disease ComplexApply Aviator 235Xpro soon after ear emergence until the end of flowering (GS59-69) for control of Fusarium ear blight in wheat and reduction of sooty moulds. Control of ear diseases can result in cleaner, brighter ears.

Leaf Blotch (Rhynchosporium secalis)Apply Aviator 235Xpro in spring at the first signs of disease. For severe infections a second application may be necessary 2-3 weeks later.

REsistAnCE stRAtEGYTank-mixtures or alternation with fungicides having a different mode of action against the diseases present have been shown to protect against the development of resistant forms of disease. No more than two applications of SDH inhibitors must be applied to the same cereal crop. CAUtion: The possible development of disease strains resistant to Aviator 235Xpro cannot be excluded or predicted. Where such resistant strains occur, Aviator 235Xpro is unlikely to give satisfactory control.

DiRECtions FoR UsEiMPoRtant: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

intRoDUCtionBetanal maxxPro is a selective weedkiller for the post-emergence control of many annual weeds in beet crops. Betanal maxxPro is recommended for low volume overall spraying in a planned spray programme and can follow an Approved pre-emergence herbicide and / or Approved post-emergence herbicide treatment(s) used at recommended low doses for programmes. Betanal maxxPro acts mainly by contact action but will, in a planned programme and in moist conditions, provide residual control of some later germinating weeds.

WEEDs ContRoLLEDThe recommended timing of application is fully expanded cotyledon stage of the largest weed present and this should be followed wherever possible. The weed growth stage given below is for an occasional larger weed which will usually be controlled from a full programme of Betanal maxxPro sprays.
