Demanding applicationsSince magnetic fields penetrate all non-magnetisable ma-terials it is possible to monitor, for example, pigs in stain-less steel pipes by means of magnetic proximity switches.The requirement of absolute water-tightness in this areaof application is guaranteed by the protection rating IP 68 /IP 69K.
Sensing range / Switching frequencyMagnetic proximity switches have a considerably highersensing range compared to inductive proximity switches.They detect damping magnets without contact to up to70 mm. The ifm sensors reach a switching frequency ofmore than 5,000 Hz. This high switching frequencyapplies to the whole temperature range.
Wide temperature rangeTheir insensitivity to very fast temperature changes in awide temperature range of 0 to 100 °C allows the use ofthe units even in applications with strong temperaturefluctuations.
Hygienic areasDue to the material combination of PEEK and stainlesssteel as well as the robust M12 connectors with gold-platedcontacts, the sensors are particularly suited for the mostdifficult conditions in hygienic food and pharmaceuticalapplications.Due to the permanently legible laser type label the unit canstill be clearly identified after years of aggressive cleaning.
