1 Product Positioning

The TE30, an HD videoconferencing endpoint, supports H.264 SVC, H.264 HP, IPv4, IPv6,and also Wi-Fi. It is suitable for many different kinds of conference rooms.

Table 1-1 describes the features and application scenarios of the TE30.

2 Product Highlights

A Full HD Experience with Low-bandwidthl The endpoint supports a maximum conference rate of 4 Mbit/s and provides industry-

leading video quality. The 720p 30 fps video only requires a bandwidth of 384 kbit/s,and the 1080p 30 fps video only requires a bandwidth of 512 kbit/s. .

l The endpoint supports multiple video encoding and decoding protocols including H.264SVC, H.264 HP, H.264 BP, H.263, H.263+, RTV. The endpoint also supports multipleHD video formats of up to 720p 30 fps, 720p 60 fps, 1080p 30 fps, as well as SD videoformats such as 4CIF and CIF. Compared with 720p images, 1080p images have a morethan twice the definition, sharper edges, and more delicate details.

l The endpoint uses Huawei's new Video Motion Enhancement (VME) technology toimprove pre- and post-processing of video, noise reduction, contrast, edges, andilluminance. This enables the endpoint to provide sharper and clearer video compared tosimilar products when used in the same conditions. The endpoint's video compressionratio is exceedingly high through the use of a new hardware processing chip andenhanced H.264 encoding and decoding technology, allowing high quality video (crisper,smoother and more vivid) to be delivered using less bandwidth than competing systems.

Feature-rich, Intelligent, and Easy-to-use

l P2P to multipoint: The call hold and call transfer functions allow you to turn a P2P callinto a multipoint call, increasing conference efficiency and preventing time-wasting calloperations.

l Registration using the same number: A videoconferencing endpoint and its soft clientcan register with an SC using the same number.

l Voice dialing: You can call or join a conference simply by saying the conference or sitename.

l Wi-Fi connection: The endpoint can use Wi-Fi to connect to wireless networks andmicrophones, simplifying cable connections.

l Air content sharing: With no cable required, users can easily share presentation over awireless or IP network.

l USB-based auto configuration: Data configuration is completed using plug-and-play (forexample, a USB flash drive), which is secure, convenient, and effortless.

Outstanding Network Adaptability and Securityl The endpoint supports H.264 SVC and is adaptable to different bandwidths, device

capabilities, and network requirements.l Patented Super Error Concealment (SEC) ensures high-quality video experiences even

with packet loss at 20%.l Huawei's Intelligent Rate Control (IRC) technology automatically detects network

service bandwidth occupation and intelligently selects the optimal resolution based onthe bandwidth to ensure conference quality.

l The standard H.460 and exclusive SNP firewall traversal technologies are used to set upsecure connections between the public and private networks through the firewall.

l The standard Interactive Connectivity Establishment (ICE) process sets up calls andtransmits audio, video, presentation, and camera control data between endpoints on theprivate and public networks.

l H.235, Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP), Transport Layer Security (TLS),and Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) are supported for media stream andsignaling encryption, ensuring secure and stable running of the videoconferencingsystem.

Extensive System Integrationl Interoperability: The TE30 can interwork with industry's mainstream standard endpoints,

infrastructures, the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and the Videxio cloudvideoconferencing platform (referred to as Videxio platform hereinafter), delivering anintelligent, easy-to-use conference experience.

l IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) integration: The endpoint can seamlessly integrate withthe IMS network. It can interconnect with the Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) andmanage its own services using the TR-069 function provided by the ACS.

l MSUC integration: The endpoint is able to interwork with Microsoft Lync2010,Lync2013, and Lync Online (Office 365).

l SiteCall: A unique technology that allows users to schedule or instantly initiate amultipoint conference, making conferencing as convenient as making phone calls.

l Rich application programming interfaces (APIs): The endpoint provides rich APIs forthird parties to facilitate system integration and customization.

Compact Design, Easy to Install

l Due to its compact design, which includes a built-in camera and a pair of microphones,the endpoint is portable and easy to install.

l The endpoint supports Wi-Fi access and is ready for use shortly after being connected toa television and powered on. The entire process can be completed in five minutes.

l A mounting bracket is provided to allow positioning on a wall, above a TV set, or on aceiling.

(Optional) Built-in MCUThe endpoint with the built-in MCU (also known as miniMCU) can hold multipointconferences without any intervention of the SMC or standalone MCU.

This enables users to call multiple sites one by one, or use a predefined conference template tocall multiple sites at a time. After a conference starts, sites can dial the number or IP addressof the endpoint that houses the built-in MCU to join in the conference.

l Max. capacity: 4-way 720p 30 fps video sites (local site included) + 3-way VoIP sites.l Max. bandwidth: 6 Mbit/s, with 1.5 Mbit/s for each site.l One conference can be simultaneously joined by different types of endpoints, including

SD terminals, HD terminals, VoIP terminals, H.323 terminals, SIP terminals, andterminals supporting different audio and video formats and bandwidths.

l Continuous presence per port: supports a maximum of 5 video panes.l Supports rich functions, including voice activation, floor request, dual-stream

transmission through H.239, and Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP), and cancollaborate with the Huawei RSE6500 to support multipoint conference recording,meeting the requirements of small- and medium-sized enterprises in terms of equipmentprice and maintenance costs.

3 Application Scenarios

3.1 HD IP-based Network

The TE30 supports IP network access and H.264 1080p video calls, and is compatible withvarious video protocols for SD terminals. The TE30 can work in conjunction with theVP96X0 to offer full-network HD solutions. It provides more powerful functions, moreinterfaces, and improved scalability. In addition, more protocols (for example, AAC-LD) aresupported and higher reliability is implemented by encrypting media streams and signalingwith H.235.

Figure 3-1 shows the HD IP-based network of a TE30.

l The TE30 works with a standalone MCU or the built-in MCU of an endpoint to establishan IP-only HD network and initiate multipoint HD conferences using the standard H.323or SIP protocols.

l The 1080p 30 fps HD video is provided with a transmission rate of 512 kbit/s withAAC_LD high-fidelity audio, creating excellent conference quality.

l The 720p 60 fps full-frame video is provided with a transmission rate of 512kbit/s. Evenon a low-bandwidth network, the TE30 provides high-quality video.

l Sites at 1080p and lower (SD included) can join the same conference at different rates,using different protocols. Continuous presence is able to display 1080p sites.

l The TE30 provides strong network adaptability and reliability, ensuring video qualityacross the network.

3.2 Built-in MCU-based NetworkFigure 3-2 shows a built-in MCU-based network of the TE30, which is suitable for small-and medium-sized enterprises.

The network is described as follows:l The built-in MCU of the endpoint supports a maximum of 6 Mbit/s bandwidth and

allows concurrent connections of four 720p 30 fps HD video sites (local site included)(each video site occupies 1.5 Mbit/s bandwidth) and three audio sites.

l Audio-only sites that support H.323 or SIP can join the same conference and sharepresentations using H.239 or BFCP.

l HD and SD video sites can join the same conference at a bandwidth of up to 1.5 Mbit/sand a resolution of up to 720p.

l When a site joins a conference, the endpoint automatically adjusts the continuouspresence layout to display the video of that site. For example, when there are only twovideo sites, the continuous presence layout is 2-pane . If a third video site joins in,

the continuous presence layout is automatically adjusted to 3-pane . The site thatgenerates the loudest volume is displayed in the largest pane. The local site is notdisplayed by default.

l During conferences hosted by the endpoint built-in MCU, multiple conference controlsare provided, including:

– Granting or revoking chair control rights

– Locking conferences

– Ending conferences

l Audio-only sites can join conferences using IP phones only when the SMC2.0 isdeployed on the network.

3.3 Built-in MCU Networking with the RSE6500

The TE30endpoint with a built-in MCU can be connected to the RSE6500 to provideconference recording services. When connected, the endpoint can record conferences withoutany intervention of the SMC or standalone MCU. Figure 3-3 shows a network where theendpoint with a built-in MCU works with the RSE6500.

The network is described as follows:

l The MCU-embedded endpoint is deployed on the same IPv4 or IPv6 network as theRSE6500. It can contact the RSE6500 using the IP address.

l The MCU-embedded endpoint exchanges media streams with the RSE6500 toimplement simultaneous recording of conference voice, video, and presentation.Recording control can be performed on either the endpoint or the RSE6500.

l Users can view live broadcast or VoD either from the endpoint web interface or from theRSE6500 web interface on their PCs, smartphones, or tablets.

NOTEOn this network, the endpoint with the built-in MCU works with the RSE6500 in the simplest way.Without any intervention of the GK or SIP server, they are connected by their IP addresses.

3.4 Network Containing TE Soft ClientsThe endpoint can work with TE soft clients in the two modes, either with all endpointsregistered with a SIP server, as shown in Figure 3-4, or with the MCU registered with the SCthrough both H.323 and SIP, as shown in Figure 3-5.

The network is described as follows:l The MCU can invite all endpoints to join the same conference using SIP.l The TE soft client can directly communicate with endpoints using SIP.

The network is described as follows:

l The SMC2.0 embeds an SC.

l The MCU registers with the SC through both H.323 and SIP.

l TE soft clients register with the SC using SIP, while the endpoint registers with the SCusing H.323.

l The MCU calls the TE soft clients using SIP and calls endpoints using H.323, invitingthem to join the same conference. This allows communication to be established betweenTE soft clients and endpoints.

3.5 MSUC Convergence Network (Lync)

Network Descriptionl The endpoint registers with the SC using H.323 or SIP.

l The PXP Integrated Media Server functions as the Lync gateway to connect Lync clientsto video conferences, allowing users to join video conferences anytime, anywhere.

l The endpoint can call the Lync client through the following:

– The endpoint supports the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) addressbook. Users can search Lync client users on the network and add the users found tothe local address book of the endpoint.

– Users can place a video call to contacts in the local address book.

– Users can enter the SIP URI or number of the called party and initiate a call.

l The Lync client can call the endpoint through the following:

– Users can search for the desired contact from the contact list and place a video callto the contact.

– Users can enter the SIP URI or number of the called party and initiate a call.– If a call is initiated from the contact list or by entering the SIP URI, the status

(online, busy, or offline) of each other (the calling party and called party) isdisplayed.

Networking with the Microsoft Lync 2013Figure 3-6 shows the network where the endpoint works with the Microsoft Lync 2013.

The network is described as follows:l The Microsoft Lync 2013 system includes the Lync server, Edge server, Exchange

server, Active Directory (AD) server, and Lync clients. Lync clients can connect to theMicrosoft Lync 2013 system through the intranet of an enterprise or through the Internet.

l The PXP Integrated Media Server functions as the communication gateway between theHuawei videoconferencing system and Microsoft Lync 2013 system to exchange audio,video, and presentation between them.

l The PXP Integrated Media Server connects to the SC of the Huawei videoconferencingsystem through an H.323 neighbor or a SIP trunk.

l The PXP Integrated Media Server connects to the Lync server through a SIP trunk.

The network is described as follows:

l The enterprise uses the Lync Online of Office365 to implement instant messaging, audiocalling, and video calling.

l The PXP Integrated Media Server is deployed in the DMZ. It functions as thecommunication gateway between the Huawei videoconferencing system and LyncOnline to exchange audio, video, and presentation between them.

l The PXP Integrated Media Server connects to the SC of the Huawei videoconferencingsystem through an H.323 neighbor or a SIP trunk.

l A federation is configured between the PXP Integrated Media Server and the LyncOnline.

l Both the Microsoft Outlook and SMC2.0 can be used to schedule conferences. TheSMC2.0 and videoconferencing endpoints can query the address book on the AD serverof the enterprise.

l The SC can be installed in back-to-back mode or be deployed only in the DMZ.

3.6 IMS HD Convergence Network

The IMS uses voice over IP (VoIP) applications based on SIP applications that comply withthe 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard to provide fixed and mobilemultimedia services for carriers. The IMS integrates with the MCU to deliver HD videoconferencing services.

On the IMS HD convergence network, the endpoint can interconnect with the ACS toimplement management functions through the TR-069 service offered by the ACS. Theoperations include querying and setting parameters, monitoring and reporting alarms,performing upgrades, and managing private and public network configurations.

l By interacting with the activation server, registrar server, and configuration server on theVidexio platform, the endpoint gets activated, obtains SIP configuration data, acquires itsown site name, and automatically registers with the Videxio platform based on theobtained data.

l The endpoint communicates with the Videxio platform only through the SIP protocol toget registered and convene conferences.

l When the endpoint is in a conference initiated by the Videxio platform, conferencecontrol functions are unavailable on the endpoint.

3.8 SIP-based Traversal Between Public and PrivateNetworks

The SIP-based traversal between public and private networks follows the standard InteractiveConnectivity Establishment (ICE) process to set up calls and transmit audio, video,presentation, and camera control data between endpoints on private and public networks(three ways: public network-private network, private network 1-public network-privatenetwork 2, private network 1-public network-private network 1). Figure 3-11 shows anetwork where SIP-based traversal is implemented.

l The calling and called parties must be registered with the SIP server successfully.l As regulated by the ICE standard, both the Traversal Using Relay NAT (TURN) and

Simple Traversal of UDP through NAT (STUN) services are installed on the SC server.l Only IPv4 is supported for traversal between public and private networks.

4 Product Structure

4.1 Appearance

The TE30, as shown in Figure 4-1, is sleek, compact, and pleasing to the eye. Its all-metalshell feels durable and shows the quality of the product. It is designed especially to be suitablefor all conference room environments.

4.3 Checking Indicator StatusBy checking the status of indicators on an endpoint, you can know its running status andensure that it works well with other videoconferencing devices.

When all cables are connected correctly, connect the TE30 to a power supply using the poweradapter. When the power adapter indicator turns on, the TE30 automatically powers on andthe Wizard screen is displayed. After the configuration is complete, the menu screen isdisplayed.

5 Functions and Features

5.1 Voice Dialing

The endpoint uses speech recognition technology to support point-to-point voice calls on theremote control screen in both Chinese and English, and also allows users to initiate multipointconferences through templates. The endpoint can recognize site names, conference names,and names of predefined conferences. It can automatically call sites to join conferences orinitiate SiteCalls to initiate conferences, simplifying user experience. Figure 5-1 shows theCall window.

If there is only one site shown in the list after voice dialing is made, then a call is initiatedautomatically.

If there are two or more sites displayed in the list, users can choose one to make a call, asshown in Figure 5-2.

5.2 SiteCall

SiteCall is a unique conference function provided by Huawei. It allows users to defineconferences and participants on the endpoint, making it simple to initiate a multi-partyconference. Users can create conferences using the touch panel, web interface, or remotecontrol of the endpoint. After setting conference parameters (such as the conference name,data rate, and number of sites), the users can start the conference. The endpoint can initiateconferences through H.323 or SIP.

5.3 P2P to MultipointWhen the endpoint is connected to an MCU, you can turn a P2P call into a multipoint call,increasing conference efficiency. Below are different scenarios where this may be necessary.

Local Site Receiving Calls from Other Sites

If two sites are having a P2P call and one of the sites receives another incoming call (ormultiple incoming calls), that site can perform one of the following operations:

l Answer&Merge: Answer calls from other sites and turn the P2P call into a multipointconference.

l Answer&Hold: Answer calls from other sites and place the original P2P call.l Answer&Release: Answer calls from other sites and release the original P2P call.l Ignore: Ignore calls from other sites, close the incoming call notification dialog box, and

continue the original P2P call.l Reject: Reject calls from other sites and continue the original P2P call.

Local Site Placing Calls to Other Sites

If two sites are having a P2P call and one of the sites calls another site (or multiple sites), thatsite can perform one of the following operations:

l Hold&Call: Place the original P2P call on hold and place a call to another site or toseveral other sites.

l Merge: Place the original P2P call on hold, and place a call to another site or to severalother sites, and turn the P2P call into a multipoint conference.

l Add: Add sites to the original P2P call to turn it into a multipoint conference.

l Cancel: Cancel calling another site or several other sites and continue the original P2Pcall.

Call Hold

In call hold state, the local and remote sites cannot hear or video each other. They can do thisonly after the call hold operation is canceled.

If two sites are having a P2P call and one of the sites receives another incoming call, that sitecan perform one of the following operations:

l Answer&Hold: Answer the incoming call and place the original P2P call on hold.

l Answer&Release: Answer the incoming call and release the original P2P call.

l Ignore: Ignore the incoming call, close the incoming call notification dialog box, andcontinue the original P2P call.

l Reject: Reject the incoming call and continue the original P2P call.

The site in an active call can be placed on hold or released, and the site on hold can beresumed off hold or released.

5.4 Registering with the SC Using the Same SIP Numberas the Soft Client

When a TE30 registers with an SC through H.323 or SIP, its soft client can register with thesame SC through SIP using the same number. However, once the soft client is registeredsuccessfully, the TE30 will be deregistered.

5.5 Conference Control from the Web Interface

Conference control enables a more flexible and functional conference system. Conferencecontrol can be performed by the chair or by the non-chair site. The chair site can perform adiverse range of practical conference control operations, while the non-chair site can performsome simple conference control operations. For the TE30 that joins a conference initiated bythe Videxio platform, conference control functions are unavailable.

Figure 5-3 shows the conference control operations that the chair site can perform.

5.6 Network Address Book

The network address book stores the information about sites in the videoconferencing system.The administrator can download the address book and update the entries in batches. Networkaddress books can be stored on an FTP or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)server.

l If network address books are stored on an FTP server, the endpoint automaticallydownloads and synchronizes site information from the FTP server when powering on.The administrator can also manually download or update the address book.

l If network address books are stored on an LDAP server, the endpoint searches the LDAPserver for site information, and adds the site information to its local address book. Youcan specify whether to replace the site information in the local address book if the siteinformation on the LDAP server is the same as the information in the local address book.

5.7 Conference Recording

The RSE server can record conferences, including local conferences, conferences initiatedusing the built-in MCU, and conferences initiated using a standalone MCU. Explanations ofconference recording in different scenarios are given below.

l Local conference

The RSE server's IP address is set on the endpoint, and neither the endpoint or the RSEserver needs to be registered with a GK server.

l Multipoint conference hosted by SMC2.0

An SMC2.0 uniformly allocates RSE resources. The SMC2.0 sends RSE siteinformation to the MCU, and the MCU adds the specified RSE to the conference toenable recording. Operations such as starting conference recording and configuring theRSE server can be performed on the SMC2.0. The SMC2.0 also supports automaticconference recording and automatic activation of the conference recording function.

l Multipoint conference directly initiated from the endpointThe endpoint and RSE server need to be registered with a GK server. The URL or IPaddress of the RSE server needs to be configured on the endpoint. During a multipointconference, the chair site and the site where the built-in MCU is used can performrecording operations.

l Multipoint conference hosted by a built-in MCUConferences are recorded by the RSE server without the participation of the MCU.Neither the endpoint or RSE server needs to be registered with a GK server. Theendpoint adds the RSE server to the conference by calling the IP address of the RSEserver, after which the RSE server allocates recording resources and completes therecording task. This mode is simple, flexible, and convenient.

5.8 Wi-Fi Connectivity

The endpoint has a built-in Wi-Fi module and is able to function as a Wi-Fi client, a Wi-Fiserver, or both simultaneously. The maximum bandwidth is 54 Mbit/s and the frequency is 2.4GHz.

If the endpoint has the Wi-Fi client function enabled, it automatically detects and connects toWi-Fi servers. You can set the endpoint IP address in DHCP or static mode. If a wirednetwork deployment is not suitable, the endpoint can connect to the Internet through awireless router. Therefore, the Wi-Fi client can be enabled when wired networks areunavailable and the endpoint needs to access networks through wireless routers.

If the endpoint has the Wi-Fi server function enabled, it can connect to a VPM220W(Huawei's wireless microphone array) through Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for physicalconnections.

If a user also purchases a wireless microphone or touch panel, the user can connect it to anendpoint through Wi-Fi to control the product.

Figure 5-4 shows the Wi-Fi network.

5.9 Air Content Sharing

Users can share their PC desktops as presentation through the Air Content Sharing clientwithout using VGA cables to connect PCs and endpoints. This reduces the use of videocables, facilitating conference room deployment and enhancing user experience.

The Air Content Sharing client can be used on a wired or Wi-Fi network.

The Air Content Sharing client supports presentation sharing of 720p and 1024 x 768 pixelsand a maximum frame rate of 15 fps.

To enable Air Content Sharing, log in to the endpoint web interface from a PC and downloadthe client, as shown in Figure 5-5.

After the Air Content Sharing client starts, its automatically searches endpoints on thenetwork where it resides, as shown in Figure 5-6.

Two methods are available for authentication when the Air Content Sharing client isconnecting to the endpoint.l Enter the authentication password which is configured on the endpoint through the Air

Content Sharing client.l When receiving a connection request, the web interface or the remote control UI

automatically prompts a dialog box. Click Yes to accept the request.Start the Air Content Sharing client on the PC where it is installed and share the PC desktopas presentation to the endpoint over IP network, as shown as Figure 5-6.

5.10 Automatic Configuration Via a USB Device

The endpoint can automatically import its configuration files from a USB device, allowing aplug-and-play setup. The process is simple and efficient and no professional knowledge isrequired. The USB device that contains the configuration files can be obtained from agents oroperators. When the configuration files are imported to the endpoint from the USB device, allconfiguration data is loaded automatically.

5.11 Multi-Language User Interface

The endpoint is designed for the global market and provides multi-language user interfaces(including the remote control interface and web interface). Supported languages includeEnglish, Chinese (both simplified and traditional), German, Spanish, French, Norwegian,Italian, Polish, Russian, Portuguese (European), Brazilian Portuguese, Hungarian, Finnish,Romanian, Czech, Swedish, Arabic, Turkish, Greek, Thai, Japanese, Dutch, Indonesian, andMalay.

Languages supported for the touch panel UI include Chinese (both simplified and traditional),English, Arabic, Russian, Spanish (European), French (European), Japanese, BrazilianPortuguese, and Thai.

The endpoint supports daylight saving time (DST) and flexible settings for the time format,time zone, and time. It allows users to customize time settings and displays the default formatbased on the user location.

5.12 Screen Layout Adjustment

By adjusting the screen layout, you can view multiple channels of video on the same monitor.

The screen layout can be PiP, 2-pane, and 3-pane.l PiP: One channel of video is displayed in full-screen mode, and at the same time, another

channel of video is displayed in an inset window that can appear in any corner of thedisplay. By default, the smaller video is displayed in the lower right corner and isapproximately 1/16 of the full-screen video.

l 2-pane: Users view two sites on a single monitor in two panes. The two panes are of thesame size and can display video or presentation.

l 3-pane: Users view three sites on a single monitor in three panes. Each pane is about 1/3of the screen and can display video or presentation.

Figure 5-7 shows some sample layouts.

5.13 Real-time Viewing of HD Images

Using the remote video surveillance function, users can log in to the conference managementweb page to view the specified video source while the conference is going on. Both local andremote video can be viewed in real time, as shown in Figure 5-8.

5.14 Adaptation of and Conversion Between the 16:9 and4:3 Display Modes

The endpoint can automatically detect monitors connected to it. The image ratio on themonitors varies with the video protocol and definition settings. If the local site needs todisplay the 4:3 video from a remote site on a monitor with a 16:9 LCD, the endpoint simplyadjusts the video to prevent distortion.

5.15 Seamless Integration with the IMS

The endpoint can access and register with the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network usingSIP and join HD video conferences on the IMS network. The endpoint can interconnect withthe Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) to implement management functions through theTR-069 service offered by the ACS, including querying and setting parameters, monitoringand reporting alarms, performing upgrades, and managing private and public networks.

NOTEThe TR-069 service is available only in V500R002C00SPC500 or later.

5.16 Third-Party APIs

The endpoint provides rich HTTP-based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that canbe used by third parties for system integration and customization. APIs allow users tointegrate services provided by the endpoint with other products or applications. Based on theirservice needs, users can use specific APIs to implement the desired services, such as calling asite, convening a conference, and managing conferences.

5.17 Lync Convergence and Interoperability

Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 are the corporate-level unified communications platforms launchedby Microsoft. Lync Online of Office 365 is Microsoft's high-end cloud service as well as anapplication suite based on the cloud platform. This suite can deliver communications servicesby audio, video, and data to mobile devices, such as PCs and smartphones. Based onMicrosoft's protocols and processes, the PXP Integrated Media Server is taken as the gatewaythat enables 720p 30 fps video communication between the endpoint and the Lync system,including Lync2010, Lync2013, and Lync Online (Office 365). Enterprises that have the Lyncplatform deployed can access the videoconferencing system using mobile devices, such asPCs, smartphones, and tablets.

5.18 Videxio InterconnectionNOTE

The endpoint of V500R002C00SPC500 or later can interconnect with the Videxio platform.

To interconnect your endpoint with the Videxio platform, click the activation button on theVidexio web page and choose to automatically scan your endpoint or manually search foryour endpoint by IP address. If the interconnection is successful, your endpoint alsocompletes all required tasks, including getting activated, obtaining SIP settings, acquiring sitenames, and getting registered. After the interconnection, your endpoint can periodically obtainconfiguration data from the Videxio platform and join conferences initiated by the Videxioplatform, delivering intelligent, cloud-based conferencing experience.

5.19 SecurityThe endpoint provides a variety of security features, such as protocol anti-attack andauthentication of debug users, web interface users, and web requests.

System Layer SecuritySecurity maintenance of the system layer ensures a smooth running of the operating systemand also supports stable services at the application layer. The endpoint uses Linux, which ismore secure and immune to viruses than Windows.

On this network, the endpoint is connected to the Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) through theprivate network. The MCU connects to different networks through different ports. Theendpoint on the private or public network can join conferences even if the H.323 protocol orthe firewall settings (such as enabled ports) are not changed.

Firewall Technology (NAT)The firewall protects your IP network by separating the internal and external networkcommunication data. Using Network Address Translation (NAT) technology and exchangingsignaling between public network protocols and private network protocols, the firewallenables sites on local area networks (LANs) in different places to enjoy the convenience ofcommunication through video conferences. With NAT, a device on an LAN is allocated adedicated internal IP address that uniquely identifies the device on the LAN, and the deviceuses an external IP address to communicate with external devices. Through NAT mapping,

multiple internal IP addresses are mapped to one external IP address. NAT mapping not onlyreduces the number of IP addresses that are needed for users on a private network to accessthe Internet, but also enhances the security of the private network.

Network Diagnostics

Network diagnostic tools are provided to ensure correct network settings and proper networkperformance indicators, such as routing information, port filtering policies on the firewall,network delay, packet loss rate, ratio of incorrectly sequenced packets, jitter, types of NATdevices, and modification of H.323 and SIP messages by the application level gateway(ALG). Network diagnostic tools provide users with easy-to-use professional networkdiagnostic services, helping them rectify network faults quickly.

When a web-based diagnostic tool is used to connect to the endpoint, the user must enter theuser name and password, which are encrypted and then transmitted to the endpoint.

Web Request Authenticationl When a user requests access to a specified web page or submits a servlet request, the

endpoint checks whether the user's session identifier is valid and whether the user isauthorized to perform the operation.

l The server implements the final authentication on the user.

l Before transmitting user-generated data to clients, the server verifies the data andencodes it using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) to prevent malicious code andcross-site scripting attacks.

l Web security software is used to scan the web server and applications to ensure that thereare no high-risk vulnerabilities.

Protocol Anti-Attack Measuresl The communication port matrix is provided in the product documentation. Services and

ports not mentioned in the communication port matrix must not be enabled.

The communication port matrix contains the following information: open ports, transportlayer protocols used by the ports, network elements (NEs) that use the ports tocommunicate with peer NEs, application layer protocols used by the ports anddescription of the services at the application layer, whether services at the applicationlayer can be disabled, authentication modes adopted by the ports, and port functions(such as data traffic control).

l The Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) are used toencrypt media streams and signaling of voice services respectively, ensuring securecommunication between users.

l For network management, the endpoint supports the Simple Network ManagementProtocol v3 (SNMP v3), which features higher adaptability and security. User names areneeded to connect the network management system to the endpoint.

l Robustness testing tools are used to scan protocols to ensure that there are no high-riskvulnerabilities.

l By default, the File Transfer Protocol over SSL (FTPS) and LDAP over SSL (LDAPS)are used to encrypt the address book, ensuring data integrity and preventing data frombeing stolen.

6 Operation and Maintenance

6.1 Using the Web InterfaceWeb-based management is supported, which allows users to initiate calls, control conferences,save address books, and modify system configurations. Users in different locations canconcurrently access and use the endpoint through the web interface, which eliminates therestriction of space. The administrator can also control the endpoint remotely using its webinterface. The web interface supports concurrent operations by a maximum of 10 users(including API users). The same user name and password can be used by multiple users.When multiple users perform operations on the web interface, the last operation takes effect.Figure 6-1 shows the home page of the web interface.

6.2 Using the Remote ControlA remote control is provided to allow convenient operations for users. The remote control UIadopts the "what you see is what you get" design, which is easy to understand and use.

Using the remote control, users can perform various operations, such as initiating aconference, making a voice call, controlling a conference, controlling captions, modifyingsystem configurations, controlling the microphones and speakers, and selecting andcontrolling cameras. Figure 6-2 shows the home screen of the remote control UI.

6.3 Using the Touch PanelThe endpoint provides an optional Android-based, 10-inch touch panel. With an intuitive andcustomized UI, the touch panel provides a superb gesture control experience, allowing usersquick access to conference functions.

On the touch panel UI, you can perform the following operations: finding a scheduledconference and joining it simply by one tap, creating a multipoint conference, creating a P2Pconference in a shortcut manner, sharing presentation, viewing a specified site or presentation,setting continuous presence, executing conference control, defining system settings,conducting a diagnosis simply by one tap, and controlling local devices such as microphones,speakers, and cameras. During a conference, you can also control remote cameras if thecameras allow Far-End Camera Control (FECC). Figure 6-3 shows the home screen of thetouch panel UI.

6.4 Log Management

User operations and system abnormalities are logged, which help the system administratormaintain the system and locate faults. Logs are saved as files in the endpoint. A maximum of100,000 logs can be stored. Users can query, export, and delete logs generated by theendpoint.

Users can query historical logs either on the web interface or using the remote control.Querying logs of the specified date is supported. If you use the touch panel, you can query itslogs. Using the web interface, users can export logs as files to the local PC for detailedanalysis, or delete all historical logs.

6.5 InspectionThe SMC can automatically perform the following inspection tasks on the endpoint:

l Check the status of IP lines.

l Check the system software version, CPU, memory, temperature, and fan.

l Check the H.323 and SIP registration status.

l Check the connection status of the built-in camera and the working status of its PTZ.

l Conduct a diagnosis on local audio and video loopback.

l Continue inspection after the endpoint restarts or ends a call.

l Stop inspection anytime.

l Receive the inspection status and result.

6.6 System Upgrade

The endpoint can be upgraded automatically or manually. By upgrading the system softwareof the endpoint to the latest version, users can enjoy enhanced and the latest features andfunctions.

Manual upgrade: Users use the upgrade tool to initiate the system upgrade. They can alsoupgrade the system on the web interface.

Automatic upgrade: The endpoint automatically triggers a system upgrade at the intervalspecified by users.

The software of the touch panel can be upgraded through the endpoint or manually upgraded.

The endpoint connected to the ACS can be upgraded using the ACS.

As a manageable device of the SMC2.0, the endpoint can be upgraded using the SMC2.0. Ifmultiple endpoints exist, they can be upgraded in batches from the SMC2.0.

SIP URI It is used for SIP to identify users. A SIP URI includes a user name and a domainname. It can also contain other parameters.

SIP trunk A packet trunk. Different from a physical channel defined by a circuit relay, a SIPtrunk defines a logical channel, which solves the issues about interoperabilityauthentication and call addressing between the local office and the peer office.

Secure Shell (SSH) A set of standards and an associated network protocol that allows establishing a securechannel between a local and a remote computer. A feature to protect information andprovide powerful authentication function for a network when a user logs in to thenetwork through an insecure network. It prevents IP addresses from being deceivedand simple passwords from being captured.

Secure Sockets Layer(SSL)

A security protocol that works at a socket level. This layer exists between the TCPlayer and the application layer to encrypt/decode data and authenticate concernedentities.

service managementcenter (SMC)

A videoconferencing service management system that manages videoconferencingdevices (including GKs, MCUs, and participant endpoints) and allocatesvideoconferencing resources.

standard definition(SD)

A video format with the resolution below 720p.

touch panel The touch panel is connected to the telepresence system wirelessly. Without cablerestriction, users can use the touch panel conveniently.
