ORNAMENTAL INSECTCONTROL

PBI/Gordon Corporation has introducedPestroy Broad Spectrum Insecticide, a neworganophosphate insecticide-miticide de-veloped to control various insect and mitepests that attack ornamental shrubs andtrees. It containing the active ingredientfenitrothion, which is also marketed underthe name Sumithion.

The insecticide works on a wide rangeof pests, including aphids, borers, bud-worms, caterpillars, cankerworms, leafbee-ties, leafminers, mealybugs, palmerworms,la?ebugs, sawfly, midges, pine tipmoths,mlte~, scales, .spittlebugs, whiteflies, slugs,psylhds, weevils and southern pine beetles.Pests are affected by both contact andstomach mode of actions, including moder-ate residual effects resulting from local sys-temic activity. This is produced by theproduct's penetrating action into planttissues.

Recommended rates for control of insectson ornamentals are 1/2 to one pint of Pes-
