Overview We are happy to provide you with access to the training courses on the Nihon Kohden Patient Monitoring Products through an online portal called HospitalDirect © by HealthStream. This guide will help you to register and to start learning the monitoring system using the customized courses.

These courses provide you with a choice of departments during the registration process. Please choose your appropriate department for tracking purposes, and then answer the interview questions within the course that insures that you receive the appropriate product training course. The questions are:

1. Do you or will you perform monitoring in a NICU? (if yes, only the question on central monitoring follows) 2. Will you use wireless telemetry devices?

This delivers the telemetry transmitter portion of the training and may be used alone for those caregivers who are responsible for placing the transmitters on the patients but who do not use the central monitor.

3. Will you use a bedside monitor? 4. Will you use hemodynamic monitoring with your bedside monitor? 5. Will you use the central monitor?

The course delivers the modules based on your answers and hidden logic to insure that you receive the corresponding modules. Any and all modules can be taken by any user if desired.

The course requires - Internet Explorer 8.0 (or higher) and Flash Player 8.0 (or higher), and you should disable any popup blockers when you get to this url. Cookies must also be accepted. We work with the IT departments at the hospitals to insure that they meet these requirements prior to users logging on at the facility.

Why Does Nihon Kohden Use Online Training as a Part of the Program? Self-paced. Not everyone learns at the same speed, so the online courses allow students to learn at their

own pace. Your time is valuable. The short orientation to the products using online training at your convenience

is replacing scheduled classroom times that would likely take place during peak hours. More Interactive. Through interactive simulations, you can actually learn how to use the monitors,

rather than just being told about them. The animated product simulations actually turn your computer into an exact copy of the monitor itself.

Builds a Foundation. When you do receive the live hands-on portion to the product training, you will already be familiar with the monitors and will know the basics of how to operate them. This will make the hands-on time much more valuable.

24x7 Access. By providing the introductory training online, you have access to the course and the resources 24x7x365. This allows you to take the course no matter what shift you are on, and will give you easy access for questions that you might have or if you ever feel that you need a refresher.

It works around your schedule. The life of a nurse can be extremely hectic, and priorities are constantly changing. We took that into account when we created the courses, and built them to mark your place if you have to stop without completing them. To resume, login back in and select the course again, and choose to start where you left off.
