Production of the Front

Cover

Page 2: Production

Firstly I started off by designing the title of my music magazine, I did so by using the software Adobe Photo Shop. I have positioned the title along the master head as this follows the code and conventions for designing a magazine front cover.

Once taking the image of the person who was going to me the main image on my magazine, I had to edit the image using Adobe Photo Shop and position the image onto my magazine. I positioned the image central, so that the image delivered direct address attracting the eye of the audience.

I then added the positioning statement ‘Join the crowds’, this is positioned below the title. I positioned it here as it follows the code and conventions.

I then positioned the cover lines around the image, using a background text box to emphasise each cover line, enabling the cover lines to stand out. The cover lines have been positioned around the image as they hug the image, drawing more attention to the main image. The font of each cover line is the same, and consist of a bold font. By doing the above I have followed the code and conventions of creating a magazine front cover.

Sub lines were then added below each cover line. Sub lines used are short and ambiguous, in order to intrigue the audience, leaving the audience wanting to read the relating story.

The main story line is displayed in a large bold font, in order for it to stand out as it is the main key feature to the magazine, this following the code and conventions.

The barcode was then added at the bottom right hand side of the magazine, above the barcode the price, issue number and date is displayed, this follows the code and conventions for when creating a magazine front cover.

Information was then added on to a strip at the bottom of the page, here the content of the magazine is listed and the promotional offer that the magazine offers ‘Free CD’.

As my first design of the music magazine front cover did not work well and did not appear as an Indie magazine would do. I had to change the colour of font and the layout of the front cover.

Firstly, I started off by creating a new title, using the software Adobe Photo Shop.

The same image was then used however, I had edited it again and cropped the image so that it appeared better on the page. Also I brought the image forward so that the head of the person slightly covered the bottom on the letter ‘O’ in the title.

The positioning statement ‘Join the crowds’ was then positioned below the title. I positioned it here as it follows the code and conventions.

Information was then added to the bottom of the page, here different content of the magazine is listed in order to give the reader an insight to what the magazine has to offer.

The barcode was then positioned in the bottom right hand side corner of the magazine. And above the barcode the price, issue number and date is displayed, this follows the code and conventions for when creating a magazine front cover.

The main cover line was then added, and positioned so that it was eye catching to the reader, as I had used a large bold font to create the cover line. By using the colour white and red it enabled the main cover line to stand out as these colour contrast with the image colour.

Cover lines were then added, here I have used four instead of five, so that the front cover page did not look overpowering. I have displayed each other line in front of a blue coloured text box in order to enable the cover lines to stand out of the page.

Sub line were then added below each cover line, adding information that related to the cover line. I ensured that each sub line used was ambitious and short so that the reader was intrigued.

Production of Contents Page

I started off by position the title ‘contents’ on the page, in a large bold font so that it stands out.

I then positioned the title name of the magazine beside the title contents.

Page 13: Production

I then added the publication date of the magazine, I positioned this above the title ‘contents’.

I then planned and structured the positioning of were the images were going to be placed on the contents page.

Page 14: Production

Page numbers were then added alongside each section of the name. With unique number relating to different content within the magazine. I decided to write the page number in a red font as it fits the colour scheme of the magazine front cover.

Images were then added to the contents page, that relate to the story lines.

Page 15: Production

I then added sub titles onto the contents page which spilt the content of the magazine into different sections.

The story lines and an insight to what the story line is about, were added in to the relevant section.

The subscription was then added to the page, here information is provided that allows readers to subscribe to the magazine.

The page number was then added and positioned in the left hand side corner of the magazine. Also the magazines website was added to the right hand side corner.
