Production Aims

The two films I analysed in my representation essay inspired my creative artefact; The Maze Runner directed by Wes Ball (2014) and The Anomaly directed by Noel Clarke (2014) I compared the ways in which both directors used micro elements to deliver different representations of protagonists. The key micro elements that were used in the two films, which I analysed in my textual analysis was sound and cinematography, which I aim to use in my creative artefact. These concepts influenced the idea for my creative artefact, which links to Levi Strauss’s theory of binary oppositions as there is a theme of protagonist vs. antagonist and good vs. evil. I aim to use the ideologies communicated about gender representation along with stylistic ideas I found through the analysis of my two films and replicate them in my creative artefact. The ideas and concepts present connect closely with the ideologies witnessed in my textual analysis.

The aim for my planning is to prepare myself for the production of my creative artefact and ensuring that I have linked my production two the two films I analysed in my textual analysis. The main tasks that I have to complete for my planning is to create a script, a location report, a screen test, a storyboard and a shot list.
