INT. AGENT’S OFFICE DAY.1 1
MCU. JOSH LOCKE 35-40 clean-cut male dressed in a power suit. Reclined in his leather desk chair talking on the phone.
JOSH LOCKECallahan, I told you not to worry. General Stocker signed the rights over yesterday. Yeah, yeah he agreed to the bull-shit terms and everything. He made enough money on the book. . . Please, this guy hasn’t seen a movie since Patton, he doesn’t know what the hell is going on. Yeah, he’s happy trust me, he has no idea that he’s getting royally fucked!
CAMERA PULLS BACK TO REVEAL
Josh laughing. He swivels his chair to face front.
JOSH LOCKE (CONT’D)Cool, I’ll see you tomorrow at Cafe Figueroa. How’s 9AM? Great!
Josh hangs up the phone.

FRANKLINSo ‘A Ghost Named Charlie’ is officially ours. I didn’t know you got the option signed.
JOSH LOCKEI didn’t. You are. You need to be at General Stocker’s house at 10:30.
FRANKLINThat’s in less than an hour!
CU. Dirty look from Josh.
FRANKLIN (CONT’D)
(Adjusting his tone) No problem.
JOSH LOCKEThat’s what I thought.
(CONTINUED)
FRANKLIN turns to leave, Josh stops him.
JOSH LOCKE (CONT’D)Hold on a minute, cornhusker. Four things to remember when talking to the old man. (Irritated) Don’t just stand there, write this down.
FRANKLIN grabs a note pad from his back pocket.
JOSH LOCKE (CONT’D)Don’t look directly at his extremely hot grand-daughter. Number two, don’t ask him anything directly, and don’t speak unless spoken to. Three, he’s a little eccentric so just go along with it. And the most important thing, DON’T AGITATE HIM. Got it?
FRANKLINGot it!
Josh stands comes around the desk, he hands FRANKLIN the option agreement and throws his arm around him as if they’re best friends.
JOSH LOCKEListen. You fuck this up, don’t bother showing up tomorrow. But, if you get the old quack to sign his book away, then I’ll promote you to assistant.
FRANKLINHow much of a raise are we talking.
Josh drops his arm.

FRANKLIN (O.S.)Babe, you’ll never guess what this prick did to me this time. He lies to the EP saying everything is good to go with “A Ghost Named Charlie” and now he expects me to make everything right. He does this to me all the time. It’s not fair. . . Then he has the nerve to tell me if I pull this off I get a promotion but if I don’t, I'm fired. . . And you know what that means. . . I’ll have to go back to Nebraska and live with my dad in that army barracks he calls a house. . . And then I'll have to listen to him tell me what a disappointment I am and ‘why did I come to Hollywood with all those fagots’. . . .
FRANKLIN re-enters the bedroom splashing aftershave on his face.
FRANKLIN (CONT’D)Hey, Sarah, are you even listening to me?
