Search and Rescue Optimal
Planning System (SAROPS) is a
comprehensive search and
rescue (SAR) planning system
used by the U.S. Coast Guard
and Armed Forces of Malta .
3 components of SAROPS:
Graphical User Interface (GUI),
the Environmental Data Server
(EDS) and the Simulator (SIM).
CALYPSO data and meteo-
marine forecasts are fed
operationally to EDS.
CALYPSO data for SAROPS
CALYPSO data for EMODnet
The initiative for an overarching EMODnet (European Marine Observation and Data
Network) is included in the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), adopted
in December 2007 by the European Parliament and Council. EMODnet is
developing into a network of existing and developing European observation
systems, linked by a data management structure covering all European coastal
waters, shelf seas and surrounding ocean basins..

Potential sites for
CALYPSO SOUTH
If permission to build everything inside the Plant, the Radar and equipment are protected, close to
sea, good elevation, good view angle, and electrical source can be from the Plant directly.
Potential sites for
CALYPSO SOUTH
Slightly on a cliff, but view angle and elevation are both good. Electrical source would be available
from a nearby farm. The terrain might not be solid rock everywhere. Connection to a nearby farm.
