Child Care Resource Network

Child Care Resource Network is a non-profit Child Care Resource and Referral Agency committed to the development of quality child care and education for children in Erie County, New York. Our mission is to promote quality, affordable, accessible care and learning for all children by supporting and empowering families, caregivers, education professionals, and employers.

The Professional Development Schedule (PDS) is meant to act as a resource for all child care providers and professionals. Inside you will find a variety of trainings offered by Child Care Resource Network’s Education & Training Department. We offer a wide range of opportunities for professional development, including trainings, conferences, networking opportunities, and other events for child care providers.

Our Professional Development Schedule is distributed three times each year to promote opportunities for early childhood professionals. We also offer program support and training at your location to help you give high-quality care and education to the children in your programs.

Childhood Immunization Updates and Record keepingKyle Hennicke, RNMS, PNP, CLCDo you find keeping track of childhood immunizations to be cumbersome? Do you feel like you are always having to ask parents to provide an up to date immunization record? Are you looking to simplify your record keeping process? If so, then this training is for you. In this training participants will:- review current recommendations and requirements for childhood immunizations,- develop easy to use record-keeping systems to track immunizations,- learn the requirements for childhood immunization allowable exemptions,- discuss strategies to improve communication with families to provide programs with up to date immunization records, and - review the requirements for New York’s annual immunization survey in all child care settings.

Infant, Child, and Adult CPR & First AidWNY SAVE A LIFE TRAINING, LLCParticipants will learn to:- recognize the symptoms requiring CPR/First Aid and take action,- perform CPR and breathing care for infants, children, and adults,- treat sudden illnesses, including poisonings,- respond to heat and cold emergencies, and- minimize the effects of shock.

A lunch break will be given. Lunch is on your own.*Testing does not count toward training hours.

Play is often referred to as children’s work. Today, however, many providers feel increased pressure from parents and administration to concentrate more on academics and less on play. This session will call upon research to help you promote play as children’s primary foundation to learning. Tax season is right around the corner. Are you ready? A tax specialist will be on hand to help you better understand financial record keeping, available deductions, and credits. In this training we will also discuss the general business records that OCFS requires you to keep and what is best practice. You will formulate a plan to review your business record keeping system and create goals to modify your system as needed. A light breakfast will be included as part of your registration.

• All registration forms must be completed in full.• Submit one (1) registration form per person.• All registrations must include the full fee for the class (unless class is free).• Registration fees are non-refundable and non-nontransferable.• A $35 fee will be charged for any returned checks.• Registration is done by mail, in person, or online at www.wnychildren.org. We cannot take registrations over the phone at this time Class registration closes three days prior to the scheduled date of the class.• Your registration is not final until all payments are made and you receive a confirmation letter.• Classes may be canceled if a minimum number of registrations are not received three days prior to class start date.

• Bring legal photo identification with you to class.• We offer free parking in front of our building, with additional parking across the street.• In the event of bad weather, we will list closings on: WGRZ Channel 2 - www.wgrz.com WIVB Channel 4 - www.wivb.com WKBW Channel 7 - www.wkbw.com• Upon arrival, sign in at the front desk.• If you need help paying for training, the Educational Incentive Program may be able to help. • An additional $5 “walk-in” fee will be charged to all providers who register for a class the day of the class.• Those who walk in and register for a class after the registration period has closed will not receive a certificate until verification that all prior financial obligations with Child Care Resource Network have been met.• Due to training requirements, we cannot issue certifications to participants who arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of instruction. Registration fees will not be returned if you are late.• You must remain for the entire class to receive class credit and a certificate.• You are responsible for maintaining your class certificates and training records. A $5 fee is required for each duplicate certificate requested.• For non-members, a $10 fee will be assessed for accessing transcripts, including CEU transcripts. Members are free.• If a class is canceled due to bad weather, participants will be notified and a credit will be issued for 90 days. Credits will not be extended.• Use of cell phones is not allowed during class time (unless relating to class material).• Children are not allowed to attend classes.
