Spring Valley Premium Mini-Standard products are highly versatile premium fertilizers that contain a balance of plant nutrients to promote plant health and vigor, particularly when applied to turfgrass. Spring Valley exceeds industry standards by implementing the absolute best standards in product quality and service. All Spring Valley Premium Mini-Standard fertilizers are sized to provide over 60% more granulation coverage (compare to the

industry standard SGN 250), and are screened to provide clean, dependable application for maximum performance. The qualities of these blends are specifically geared to promote a superior color response and will aid in improving resistance to disease, damage caused by excess wear, and recovery from environmental stress. Regular use will supply many of the necessary nutrients to build dense turf and will help provide the visual appeal turf professionals desire.

How to Use*For optimum performance, begin spring applications just before soil temperatures reach 50°F. Although nitrogen can be applied at the rate of 1.0 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. every 8 weeks, it is also recommended that lighter, half-rate applications be made each month, especially during hot, dry periods. Continue scheduled feedings throughout the growing season until soil temperature retreats to below 50°F. Late fall and dormant feedings are recommended after soil temperatures remain below 50°F for several consecutive days and turf growth has slowed considerably.

Apply product evenly with a calibrated spreader. For best results, apply prior to rainfall or irrigate immediately after application.

TEAM PRO® is a combination of two economical, yet effective DNA herbicides for pre-emerge grassy weed control: benefin, known as Balan®, and trifluralin, known as Treflan®. Together, Balan® and Treflan complement each other’s physical characteristics. Balan® contributes

quick activity and excellent crabgrass control, while Treflan® adds long residual, plus excellent crabgrass and some broadleaf weed prevention (including oxalis and spurge). As soon as weed seeds germinate, TEAM PRO® stops cell division,

keeping them from ever reaching the surface. For best results, apply TEAM PRO® at a 2-lb. A.I. rate before weed germination for 12-16 week control. In regions of excess weed pressure, single-rate applications of TEAM PRO® at a rate of 3-lbs A.I., or double-rate applications of 1.5-lb. A.I. followed by 1.5-lb. DIMENSION® (dithiopyr) provides season-long pre-emergence post control of the toughest grasses as well as controlling more small-seeded annual broadleaf weeds than any other herbicide. DIMENSION® never stains and is available in a flexible, and effective range of labeled load rates for varying applications in cool- and warm-season turfgrasses. DIMENSION® can be used as a pre-emergent before crabgrass

germination, or as a post-emerge application up to 3 leaf tillerings. When it comes to weed prevention on golf courses, DIMENSION® provides a wide range of application options (spring, summer, and fall) and controls Poa annua along with 25 other tough grasses and broadleaf weeds. For best results, apply DIMENSION® at the minimum rate of .125-.50 lb. A.I. in northern

climates (provides approximately 90-180 day control), and .25-.50-lb. A.I. per acre in southern climates (for 120-180 day control), not to exceed a total of 1.5-lbs. A.I. per acre per year. CAVALCADE® (prodiamine) is a pre-emergent herbicide that is economical, offers a low-dose application rate, and is highly effective against controlling over 30 grassy and broadleaf weeds including crabgrass, goosegrass, and Poa annua. CAVALCADE® is non-staining,

and offers a wide range of application flexibility. A single application is all that is needed for season-long control, with many turfgrass professionals choosing to apply CAVALCADE® in the fall after soil temperatures retreat below 50°F. CAVALCADE® has the lowest water solubility and volatility and stays within the top one half inch of soil. For best results, apply CAVALCADE® at the minimum rate of 0.50-lb. A.I. per acre for control up to 12 weeks, 1.00-lb. A.I. per acre for up to 20 week control, and 1.50-lb. Ai per acre for up to 32 week control.

GALLERY® and GALLERY® + TEAM® provide the ultimate for complete control of pre-emerge grassy and broadleaf weeds. GALLERY® (isoxaben) is a unique herbicide that offers season-long protection against a wide

range of broadleaf weed invasion, including dandelions, clover, chickweed, plantain, knotweed, and many more. GALLERY® can be applied to established cool- and warm-seasoned turfgrasses and is also approved for application over established ornamental beds. When combined with TEAM®, GALLERY® provides excellent broadleaf control with the added benefit of pre-emerge grassy weed control, all in a single application. For best results, GALLERY® should be applied to weed-free turf or ornamental beds at the rate of 1-lb. A.I. /acre and, when combined with TEAM®, should provide 1-lb. GALLERY® and 3-lb. TEAM® per acre. Optimum weed

control performance requires a minimum of one half inch of overhead irrigation or rainfall within 5 days of application is required to activate GALLERY® and TEAM®.


SURGE® Broadleaf Herbicide for Turf provides an amine option for FAST (up to twice as fast as other amine-based products) weed control in warmer weather (can be used up to 90°). SURGE® contains sulfentrazone, an advanced chemistry for weed control in turf, in a precise ratio with 2,4-D, MCPP-p and dicamba. A unique mode of action inhibits a key enzyme required for chlorophyll production, with weed injury symptoms visible within 24-48 hours.

Compared to other herbicides SURGE® excels as a warm-weather option as it provides superior control against dandelions, knotweed, clover, oxalis and plantain. SURGE® is approved for use on home lawns, golf courses, schools, sod farms, cemeteries and commercial properties.


Simply stated, Spring Valley®’s broadleaf weed control products outperform other leading brands. Period. Spring Valley® broadleaf control products utilize the best ingredients for maximum granule coverage resulting in superior control. Combination fertilizers with broadleaf weed control (commonly referred to “weed & feed”) products perform best when applied during periods of active weed growth (late spring through early fall). Most products require A.I. contact absorption through the weed leaf before it can be effective in eradicating broadleaf weeds, however, advancements in new products (Millennium Ultra® and Surge®) offer some root-absorbed activity. Application to wet turf (early morning dew or irrigation) followed by direct sunlight during periods of active growth provides the best results for weed and feed treatment.

Regain® When urea nitrogen is left untreated its greatest fate and most immediate loss, sometimes in excess of 30% within days of the application, is through the air. Additional nitrogen (up to 20% more) can be lost through leaching and dentrification.
