Often referred to as a “living soil” company, BlueSky Organics takes this core philosophy of living soil, or the symbiotic relationship between plants and microbial organisms creating bio-dynamic exchanges of energy, across their entire line of both organic and conventional growing media products.

The key to succeeding with organic living soil is in understanding the soil microbiology. Instead of feeding plants directly, you farm the microscopic life in the soil, which in turn provides nutrients for your plants. Living soil is a productive, organic system that produces higher

yields and healthy harvests with minimal inputs.

Basic conventional or non-organic commercial soils are generally made up of low-quality ingredients, primarily peat, wood chips, or other aggregate matter, often fortified with synthetic, salt-based nutrients and is generally not biologically active. Cultivating with this method requires large amounts of fertilizer which plants absorb through the soil.

With living soil, the soil structure is built by living organisms and the soil is less likely to erode. Nutrients are held, retained, and given to plants in an optimized form. You get increased yields because your plants work less to access more nutrients.

Living soil naturally produces better results and higher yields than conventional agriculture.

To achieve the quality and yield targets all growers desire, you have to start with the growing media or “soil.” A good growing medium should have both good water retention and high air porosity which allows for the ideal oxygen levels at the root zone and maximum nutrient uptake. This produces plants with stronger roots, bigger blooms and better overall health, which have better stress and drought resistance. For nurseries and tissue culture, our growing media also produces faster propagation and germination cycles.
