Reading Mastery: Train the Trainer Shari Tomlinson Discover the foremost effective training techniques and content that is most essential for inclusion in trainings. participants will receive materials to train their home District/school.

please note: this session will not focus on program specific training. prerequisition to admission to the institute is a minimum of two full years of experience teaching one or more of the following programs:• Reading Mastery• Corrective Reading• Connecting Math Concepts

Corrective Reading: Initial TrainingLee Hemenway Learn the best ways to remediate and accelerate older struggling readers. this program covers the multiple entry points to provide differentiated instruction for students in grades 4-12. Instruction in decoding strategies, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension will enable students to accelerate growth in reading achievement. participants will receive hands-on sessions that focus on placement testing, group arrangement, format practice, correction procedures, and ongoing assessment.

SeSSIonS for ADMInISTrATorS

Coaches’ InstituteCarolyn Schneider this session will cover the characteristics of good coaches: how to coach and coaching steps, dos and don’ts for demonstration lesssons, identifying desirable teacher behaviors, and which features of programs are non-negotiable. participants will engage in numerous role-playing situations and will discuss data management, together with administrative, grade level, and faculty debriefs.

Administrators’ SessionWayne Callender Join this two-day session for administrators that focuses on the use and management of data, how to most effectively and efficiently implement Direct Instruction programs, and how to use Direct Instruction to support the Response to Intervention (RtI) model. Other topics will include sRA 2Inform and an administrators’ roundtable discussion.
