and pathogen Link to many organ system Systemic diseases might influence oral

and vice versa Some of dental diseases are foci of

infection

Background Persons with HIV (decrease of CD4) are

prone to suffer from oral infections Also from oral lesions as manifestation of HIV

infection 70-90 % of HIV persons have oral lesion EC Clearinghouse-WHO Classification on HIV-

Oral lesion : 1. Lesions strongly asso-ciated with HIV; 2. Lesions less commonly associated with HIV; 3. Lesions seen in HIV infection

Background

Lesions strongly associated with HIV :1. Candidiasis (PC and EC)2. Hairy Leukoplakia (HL)3. Sarcoma Kaposi4. Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma5. periodontal disease (LGE,NUG,NUP)

Objective

How is the oral health profile and oral lesions of persons with HIV at Pokdisus AIDS RSCM (12-22 Desember 2006) ?

Method

Design: Cross sectional Every adult HIV person who visit

Pokdisus AIDS-RSCM from 12 to 22 of Des. 2006 were included consecutively

Sociodemographic and clinical data of OH, dental disease and any oral lesions were recorded

Result

33 subjects, 27 men and 6 women Age 20 to 46 years (average: 27,36) Education:

- 60,6 % High School- 24,2 % Graduate - 15,2 % Junior High School

Discussion & Conclusion Only 6 % of subjects have good oral

hygiene Potential foci of infections: impacted

tooth,pulpal caries,chr periodontitis, subgingival calculus

HIV-Oral lesions: Pseudomembranous oral candidosis 9 %(+6 %); Oral hairy leukoplakia 9 %, and LGE 6 %
