It flows through limestone caverns and emerges into a lagoon on Palawan Island's west coast. From the park entrance, visitors can tour the river on small outrigger canoes paddled by park guides. A few meters into the cave it becomes pitch-black. Bats and swiftest roost above you and crabs, freshwater shrimp and fish swim in the river. The boat travels upstream through passages 12m wide and 15m high, passing through domed chambers with fascinating speleothems. A muddy beach 3km into the cave means portage becomes necessary to continue and the boat turns round here for the journey back. The underground river is Palawan's most popular attraction.

Along the way, they will point out which of the trees are males and females, and if you're lucky, you will see a lot of animal life, even a snake sleeping on a branch above you as you paddle by the river.
