Welcome to the Congress

Annual Congress of Romanian Society of Automotive Engineers – a special event Romanian Society of Automotive Engineers annual congresses has always succeeded to awake the desire of us, the academic members from various fields - research, design, production, exploitation, to mention only a few, to meet again, all of us who dream toward a more human environment, a quitter life, an honest friendship, beautifulness, serenity … This year the Alma Mater Napocensis, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, gladly organizes The International Congress of Society of Automotive Engineers of Romania – SIAR “Automotive Motor Mobility Ambient – AMMA 2013”, along with a series of manifestations meant to drive attention of both Romanian and abroad specialists in the fields of automotive, transportation and environment. This Congress will be held during 17-19th of October 2013, under the high patronage of FISITA (International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies) having the purpose to reunite paper works comprising scientifically research, inventions and new ideas in the fields of automotive, environment and transportation, under a good quality scientific programme. The mentioned event offers the opportunity for all the specialists involved in durable development to positively exchange opinions and contribute to a better education. Being the 3rd congress held at Cluj-Napoca it is a matter of tradition already, all other events related to AMMA 2013 International Congress helping Cluj-Napoca to becoming, even for a few days, an international center of automotive, thus offering up-to-date informations and contact possibilities on challenging issues regarding automotive and environment. Let AMMA 2013 be an ennobling event, for our souls!

Welcome to the Congress

Dear Friends and Colleagues, Dear Participants of the AMMA 2013 Congress, There is little doubt that the automobile is the most revolutionary invention in the history of transportation and mobility since the invention of the wheel. The automobile has made a rapid development in its 127-year-old history from a coach-like vehicle to the comfortable cars and powerful trucks as we now use and Romania was and still is a part of this developing process. Cars, trucks and buses will be the main means for transport for people and goods. Despite the unquestionable success of the automobile, there are still many challenges facing us that we must address in order to ensure personal mobility and protection of the environment in the future. We need to build up public understanding of the importance of automotive transportation. In order to exchange the experience and knowledge of the developments in automotive technology automotive congresses play an important role. Not only the great FISITA World Congresses, but also the regional and national automotive events, like the annual congresses of SIAR, offer a platform for automotive engineers for mutual contacts and presentations of research results. The excellently organized SIAR automotive congresses show the importance of general automotive meetings. In times of specialization, it is necessary to transfer all aspects of automotive technology to the engineers. An automotive engineer should also get information about other disciplines apart from his special field of interest. It was a good idea that students and young engineers - our colleagues of tomorrow – are able to participate at the congress and thus giving them an opportunity to establish contacts with representatives of the automotive industry and experienced engineers inspired by the enthusiasm of vehicle developers and experts. I would like to wish the organizers of AMMA 2013 a successful congress and the participants an attractive programme full of interesting information.

Welcome to the Congress

The Romanian Society of Automotive Engineers (SIAR) is a professional organization founded in 1990 which took over the work of the Romanian Association of Automotive Engineers (AIAR), created in 1988. Its existence marks the fact that the Romanian automotive branch is organized in order to create proper conditions for a dialogue whose main actors are the specialized structures of the state, the automotive industry, the education system. To serve this purpose, SIAR organizes annually under the patronage of Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Ingénieurs des Techniques de l'Automobile (FISITA), an international congress, which is an opportunity for participants to: exchange information in specific areas of the automotive industry by hearing various papers

presented at technical sessions; update information on automotive industry dynamics thanks to technical site visits; establish new contacts in order to develop/strengthen relationships with partners from the

academic and industrial environments from Romania and abroad.

This year, SIAR congress is organized by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and its keywords are the following: Automotive. Motor. Mobility. Ambient. In short: AMMA. The AMMA Congress, reaching its 3rd edition this year, is part of a series of similar scientific events held successively by various universities in the country with interests in Automotive Engineering (Transilvania University of Brasov - CONAT, University “Politehnica” of Bucharest - ESFA, University of Pitesti - CAR, University of Craiova - SMAT, Polytechnic University of Timisoara - MVT). Like all other editions of SIAR conferences, AMMA congress will be not only a festive event but will serve as a true workshop, characterized by a quality scientific dialogue which will contribute to enriching the participants' experiences. Finally, I would like to thank all the colleagues who engaged in order to have in Clui-Napoca on October 17-19, what I consider to be the scientific event of the year in the field of Automotive Engineering. Also, congratulations to the participants for the fact that they chose to get involved and I wish them constructive debates during our congress!

Welcome to the Congress

I am pleased to welcome the participants at AMMA 2013 Congress, organized by Technical University of Cluj Napoca under the FISITA and SIAR patronage. In the era when the automobile became one of the most important part of people's life, as well as a force of economy, it is very important to develop new strategies regarding environment protection, fuel efficiency and traffic safety. All of these requirements need special efforts of researchers, academia and automotive manufacturers. In this context, the AMMA 2013 Congress offers opportunities of evaluation and design of technical and scientific solutions related to automotive engineering. The academic and cultural atmosphere, the history, traditions the museums and the social context of Cluj Napoca, a 800 years-old-city, has to offer a strong reason for those attending the AMMA 2013 Congress. To all of you, thank for coming here and enjoy the congress.
