Sunday, 4th September 2005 The 4th National Conference New Research Trends in Material Science 4th – 6th September, 2005, University “OVIDIUS“ Constanta Dear Participant, On behalf of the National Research Institute for Electrical Engineering, INCDIE ICPE-CA, and the Romanian Association for Materials, “T. Segarceanu”, we would like to welcome you to the New Research Trends in Material Science National Conference. May we take this opportunity to thank both speakers and delegates for taking the time out of Your daily schedules to attend what we are sure will be a most important event. We would also like to thank those of You who assisted us with the work required to write the conference programme and to prepare the conditions necessary to run the Conference. Deep thanks are addressed to our National Authority for Scientific Research of the Ministry for E7ducation and Research, not at last to the European Commission, which both support our Conference. Our, now traditional, hosts - the University “Ovidius” Constanta - special recognize is reserved. During the Conference will take place the launch in Romania of the European Technology Platform for Advanced Materials and Technologies, EuMaT, an event which underlines the maturity and the interest of Romanian R&D institutions and of the Romanian industry to work together in order to develop market competitive materials and products, coherent with the European trend. The connected round table - European Trends in Materials. Research - Industry. Technological Transfer - strengths this will. All of those – from abroad and homeland - who contribute to the success of the organized events we are deeply indebted. Many of the key topics impacting on materials strategies will be addressed by our speakers over the next two days and we are sure that all of You will be involved in discussions to make the events even more productive and having in mind that the materials technologies are key technologies for all other research and manufacturing fields. Please find inside an up to date conference agenda with the contributions of all authors of the Conference. We hope that You will find this information’s as useful. Please take the time necessary to read the “Delegate informations” concerning the conference procedure. An evaluation form has been included in this documentation pack. We would be very grateful if you can find time during the conference to complete it and to leave it at the end of the conference at the organizers or to send it by fax to 0040-21-346 82 99.

The feedback from You is very important for planning the next conference in 2007 - to which you are invited.

Enjoy Your Conference participation, President of ARM, General Director of ICPE-CA Emil Burzo Wilhelm Kappel

DELEGATE INFORMATION

ARM – 4 will be held from Sunday, 4th to Thursday, 6th of September 2005, in Constanta, the heart of the settlements on the Romanian coast. The nestle of the city is actually the antique city of Tomis, where the Latin poet Ovidius lived the last years of his life in exile. 7 km to the North there is a strip of land between the waters of the Siutghiol Lake and the sea where Mamaia resort is placed. Typical Romanian restaurants, night bars, discos, places for nautical sports, mini golf and entertainment parks make the attraction of Mamaia, irresistible.

Constanta is placed in the east part of Romania

- 225 km from Bucharest (motorway A2 and auto road 3 A )

- 225 km form Bucharest (railway)
