How does the PYP promote International Mindedness?

● The program focuses on global and local issues, not just those of one particular country or culture.

● The program emphasises the enduring understanding that all cultures have equal validity and to practice tolerance and intercultural understanding.

● The program exposes students to different cultures within and outside the school.

● Well designed units of inquiry encourage students to investigate human commonality, diversity and multiple perspectives

● Teachers, leadership and parents are also expected to model and demonstrate international-mindedness

Constructivism● Constructivism is the way students

construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world, through experiences and reflecting on those experiences.

● When we encounter something new, we have to reconcile it with our previous ideas (make connections) and experiences, maybe changing what we believe or think.

● This constructivism occurs regularly in social situations at school
