OF THE STEERING COMMITTEEIt is our great honour to welcome you, Dear Colleagues and Friends, to Krakow for the First World Congress of Neural Monitoring in Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery. This event is a global multi-disciplinary meeting of all specialists involved in the field of intraoperative neural monitoring in thyroid and parathyroid surgery designed to be the cutting-edge, state-of-the-art, and multidisciplinary Congress covering the entire spectrum of neural monitoring issues. The Congress program focuses on the most recent advances in this field and should appeal to a broad audience of specialists. The scientific program includes keynotes, lectures, panels, workshops, instructional courses, meet the professors, video sessions, auxiliary symposiums, scientific and commercial exhibits. A full social program each evening provides the opportunity to network with colleagues and international experts. Krakow, the former capital of Poland, is famous in Europe and all over the World as a city of culture and science which has been playing a significant role in Polish history. It is the city of youth, studies and work of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła - Polish Pope John Paul II. INTERNATIONAL NEURAL MONITORING STUDY GROUP

The International Neural Monitoring Study Group (INMSG) was founded to serve the emerging field of neurophysiologic monitoring of the laryngeal nerves in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.The INMSG is a multidisciplinary international group of surgeons and researchers selected based on clinical experience and expertise in thyroid and

parathyroid surgery, neural monitoring, and related fields. The INMSG includes surgeons (otolaryngologists, general surgeons, and endocrine surgeons), laryngologists, voice and laryngeal electromyography (EMG) specialists, anesthesiologists, neurophysiologists and technologists.As defined by the INMSG, neurophysiologic monitoring includes any measure employed to assess the ongoing functional integrity of the laryngeal nerves in thyroid surgery.Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) has evolved over the last several decades. Its mission is protection of the patient’s nervous system. Neurophysiologic signals are monitored continuously during thyroid surgery for adverse EMG changes, detection of which enables corrective action. In addition to detection of change, surgical guidance for laryngeal nerve identification, confirmation and dissection can be offered in specialized circumstances.The INMSG published guidelines on recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) and external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (EBSLN) IONM standards for monitored thyroid and parathyroid surgery.INMSG is dedicated to the advancement of quality neurophysiologic monitoring services for protection of the laryngeal nerves.

INMSG serves as the leading organization for the field of neurophysiological assessment and monitoring of the laryngeal nerves in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.Aim of the INMSG is to improve quality of IONM, reduce inappropriate variations in IONM technique, adhere to strict standardization, fosters the growth and stature of neurophysiological monitoring, research, clarify limits, improve and update guidelines, implement IONM courses, develops quality standards for practice and training, define unequivocal reference of RLN neurophysiology and pathology, refine EBSLN monitoring and evaluate new developing technology as continuous monitoring (C-IONM).INMSG provides a forum for education and dissemination of knowledge in the field of thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

ORAL PRESENTATIONEight minutes are allocated for oral presentation and 2 minutes for discussion (10 minutes in total). Please provide your presentation in Power Point format to the slide room at least 2 hours before your presentation. Use of private laptops is strongly discouraged. Microsoft PowerPoint is preferred and must be PC-format. If you use Mac Keynote, you must bring your own computer, power supply and mini display port to VGA projector adaptor. If you do have video as part of your PowerPoint presentation, please turn in your presentation to the technician at least 6 hours in advance so that it can be checked for video playback issues.

POSTER PRESENTATIONThe Posters will be located in the special designated poster display area. Poster Boards are of size 80 cm wide and 120 cm high. Abstract number corresponds with the board number. All Posters must be in position by 10:00am on Friday, September 18, 2015. A Jury composed of the Poster Committee will inspect the Posters during coffee breaks on Friday 18, 2016. The authors of the Posters will be expected to be present at the poster site during these inspections and to answer questions relating to the Poster for a short period of time (2 minutes). During this time, any other Congress delegates present may also ask questions.
