Saturday, 1 December 2018 & Sunday, 2 December 2018 Ultrasound WorkshopLocation: Watercourt Rooms 5/6 - Day 1 & 2This two-day Ultrasound Workshop, provided by the Ultrasound Podcast team (USA), will give participants hands-on experience in capturing ultrasounds. The program will focus on the big areas of critical care ultrasound.

Prior to the course commencement, participants will be sent pre-learning lecture material, in very easy to consume video format. On arrival at the course, there will be a short review of the course - then you scan!

Sunday, 2 December 2018 NAEMSP: EMS Medical Direction WorkshopLocation: Watercourt Rooms 3/4The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) USA will be providing a one-day pre-conference workshop in EMS Medical Direction. This interactive course focuses on EMS in the real world and serves to enhance physicians’ expertise in EMS issues. Participants will receive a foundation upon which to function effectively as an EMS medical director, receive specific management tools that may be of use in their local EMS system, initiate dialogue with other EMS physicians to allow future networking, and develop an understanding of how EMS functions within the broader emergency care system.

Emergency Nursing WorkshopLocation: Watercourt Room 5/6In conjunction with the Fijian Chief of Nursing and Midwifery Officer, international and local emergency nurse leaders will present an interactive workshop on emergency nursing assessment.

Phase One: HIRAID “train the trainer”: History; Identify Red flags; Assessment; Interventions; Diagnostics; reassessment and communication (HIRAID) is the only evidence based emergency nursing assessment framework in the world, and is known to improve emergency nursing clinical assessment and communication. Read about HIRAID and the impact it has. Techniques and resources for you to implement HIRAID in your department will be provided.

Phase Two: Advanced practice assessment and skills, embedding HIRAID. This workshop, run by experienced nurses and nurse practitioners is a series of assessment and skills stations (adult and paediatric). Skills stations will include dislocation and fractures, wound management (including burns), major trauma, paediatric sepsis, cardiovascular presentations.
