    WELCOME TO AHF LIVE!

Welcome to the 2018 AHF Live: The Affordable Housing Developers Summit. Thank you for joining the more than 1,100 top developers, housing officials, finance leaders, and expert service providers from around the country at this year’s conference.

It’s been another busy year filled with so many challenges and some new opportunities. The next three days will provide you with up-to-the-minute news and the latest strategies for developing and operating affordable housing.

The conference officially kicks off at 2 p.m. Monday with the must-attend State of the Industry Power Panel. This executive-level discussion will provide candid insight on the industry’s hot-button issues as well as offer an outlook for 2019. It also lays the groundwork for many of the sessions that will follow.

On Tuesday, we’ll welcome our keynote speakers, including Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.), who will discuss the latest housing legislation, which includes his bill to create a task force that will examine the affordable housing crisis and its impact. Eugene Jones Jr., CEO of the Chicago Housing Authority, will also offer a look at what his agency is doing and introduce a former resident who is an affordable housing success story.

The rest of the day is filled with a diverse selection of important and timely sessions led by the industry’s most experienced and innovative developers and industry leaders. A highlight will be the Capitol Hill Update at 3:15 p.m., which will offer a first look at Congress following the mid-term elections.

In addition to being a place to learn and to work on deals, I hope AHF Live is an opportunity to recharge your batteries. There will be new ideas and new solutions to inspire you. There will also be valuable time to reconnect with your colleagues as well as make new contacts. Be sure to take advantage of the many networking opportunities and tour the Exhibit Hall. I also encourage you to join your colleagues at the Affordable Housing Finance Awards Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when we induct four inspiring housing champions into the Hall of Fame, recognize six Young Leaders who are making significant contributions to affordable housing, and celebrate trailblazing developments built in the past two years.

On Wednesday, we’ll have several more sessions aimed at helping you develop and operate affordable housing as well as strengthen your overall business in these changing times. Back by popular demand are Developers’ Best Practices and What’s Next at HUD along with a new session on The Next Generation: Shaping the Future of the Industry. To close the conference, a panel of top low-income housing tax credit investors and syndicators will provide you with the latest information to navigate the housing tax credit market. Don’t miss the Tax Credit Equity Outlook Power Panel.

At all our sessions, we encourage audience participation, so if you have questions, ask the speakers and interact with your colleagues. We want you to get the most out of the conference. Also, be sure to fill out an evaluation form through the conference app and introduce yourself to the AHF team. We’d love to hear from you.

Again, thank you again for joining us. Enjoy the conference.
