Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), School Education Department (SED) Govt. of Sindh and Oxford University

Press (OUP) are organizing a 2-day Children's Literature Festival (CLF) for the children of Mithi on 14th and

15th of March 2017 from 9:00am to 4:00pm with support of the Government of Sindh at Shaheed Benazir

Cultural Complex Mithi.

CLF was founded by Baela Raza Jamil CEO of ITA who requested Ameena Saiyid of Oxford University Press

(OUP) and OUP to join as a co-founder of CLF in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation (OSF) and

several like-minded partners. This movement started from Lahore in 2011. In the last 5 years, CLF has held a

total of 31 successful events so far in Quetta, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Swat,

Sahiwal, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana with an attendance of over 470,000 children and adults and for the

first time CLF is coming to Mithi with the kind support of SED. We have also held TLFs (Teacher's Literature

Festivals) in several cities.

The Children's Literature Festival is a free public event. It is an exciting initiative aimed at promoting reading,

creativity and critical thinking among the children of the country. It is a torch-bearer campaign; an equalizer for all

school systems to address the challenges of learning, reviving a culture of reading, and generating content for

textbooks and supplementary materials. An exciting and fun-filled program is planned for CLF Mithi 2017. It will

feature talks, interactive readings, discussions and workshops by well-known children's authors, poets and

artists. The festival also includes sessions on creative writing, bookmaking, poetry, comics, digital stories,

cartoons and writing.
