    Information for these operating instructionsThese operating instructions are a component of the Programmable Water Timer KH 4258 (hereafter designated as the appliance) and they provide you with important information about the intended use, safety, connection and operation of the appliance.

    These operating instructions must be constantly kept available close to the appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to operate the appliance and to eliminate faults in it.

    Retain these operating instructions and pass them on, together with the appliance, to any future owners.

    Intended useThis appliance is intended ONLY for non-commercial use to control sprinklers and irrigation systems.

    The appliance may only be used in outdoor areas.

    This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those mentioned.

    Risks can arise if the appliance is used for unintended purposes and/or other types of use.

    Use the appliance exclusively for its intended purposes.

    Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions.

    Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted.

    The operator alone bears liability.

    SafetyIn this chapter you receive important safety information regarding the handling of the appliance.

    This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Incorrect usage can, however, lead to personal and property damage.

    Basic Safety InstructionsFor safe handling of the appliance observe the following safety information:

    Before use check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not take into operation an appliance that is damaged or has been dropped.

    Individuals who, due to their physical, intellectual or motor abilities, are incapable of operating the appliance safely may only use the appliance under supervision or direction from a responsible person.

    Only permit children to use the appliance under supervision.

    Repairs should be carried out ONLY by authorized specialist companies or by the Customer Service Department. Incorrect repairs could result in signifi cant risks for the user. In addition, warranty claims would become void.

    A repair to the appliance during the warranty period may only be carried out by a repair and servicing fi rm authorised by the manufacturer, if it is not, additional warranty claims for subse-quent damages cannot be accepted.

    Defective components may only be replaced with original re- placement parts. Only by using original replacement parts can it be guaranteed that the safety requirements are being complied with.

    Avoid direct solar radiation.

    Do not operate the appliance adjacent to open fl ames.

    Check the appliance and its supply lines at regular intervals for watertightness and fault-free functioning.

    Interaction with batteries

    WARNING

    Risks from improper use!

    For the safe handling of batteries observe the following safety instructions:

    Do not throw batteries into a fi re.

    Never short-circuit batteries.

    Do not attempt to recharge batteries.

    Regularly check the condition of the batteries. Leaking battery acid can cause permanent damage to the appliance. Special caution should be applied when handling damaged or leaking batteries. Risks of acid burns! Wear protective gloves.

    Store batteries in a place inaccessible to children. If one should be swallowed, seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY.

    Remove the batteries from the appliance if you are not planning to use it for an extended period.

    To avoid risks, pay heed to the following safety instructions:

    Packaging material should not be used as a play thing. There is a risk of suff ocation!

    NOTICE

    Check the contents to make sure everything is there and for visible damage.

    If the contents are incomplete, or have been damaged due to defective packaging or transportation, contact the Service Hotline (see chapter Service).

    Disposal of the packagingThe packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their en-vironmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.

    The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and reduces generated waste. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed according to the regionally established regulations.

    NOTICE

    If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty period so that, in the case of a warranty claim, you can package the appliance properly for return.

    Requirements for the installation locationFor the safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance the following requirements must be met at the installation location:

    The temperature of the water fl owing through it may be a max. of 40C.

    Use only clean freshwater.

    Connect the appliance perpendicularly, with the hose connection underneath.

    Minimum operating temperature +5C

    Connecting the appliance

    IMPORTANT

    This Programmable Water Timer may only be connected to a drinking water outlet fi tted with a safety device that corresponds to at least TYPE HD as per EN 1717 (non-return valve with pipe ventilation).

    Appropriate adapters are commercially avai
