Synergies between land degradation and climate change

• Objectives of the UNFCCC and the UNCCD are closely linked

GHG Emissions Land Degradation GHG Emissions

• SLM should be an integral part of strategies for adaptation to and mitigation of climate change

• Untapped potential of emissions reduction activities

Agenda presentation

“Workshop on strengthening capacities to increase finance for sustainable land

management through climate change financing mechanisms in South East Asia”

Aim of the 4 days sessions is in respect of financing climate change to :1. Understand your perception of the mitigation and

adaptation issues and the needs for finance (issues in understanding, systems too complex, not enough available, technology…)

2. To share your on the ground/ real life experience. In return we will exchange on our knowledge and experience of other regions.

3. To understand with you how countries can cooperate to improve mitigation and adaptation measures. The problem being global, is it better to deal with it at a regional level than a country level?

4. To produce together some recommendation and think of alternatives to current difficulties to progress in the right direction.
