People have created different styles of art at different times.
These are called art movements and they include Renaissance, ImpressionismPointillism and Abstract Art.
The Mona Lisa is a portrait painting by the Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci. It is believed to have been painted between 1503 and 1506.
Impression, Sunrise (1872) by Monet is a landscape painting of Le Havre port. It was painted in 1872 and is an example of the Impressionism art movement.
Tableau I (1921) by Piet Mondrian is a famous example of abstract art.
A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte (1884-86) by Georges Seurat is an example of pointillism. This uses small dots of colour to make a larger picture.
Sunflowers (1888) is a series of still-life paintings by Vincent Van Gogh.
The Scream by expressionist artist Edvard Munch was painted in 1893.
