ProjectsData workers perform their tasks in two phases: Experimentation andconfirmation. When performing confirmation, they face the issue ofunderstanding their experiments. To address this issue, we developedTRACTUS. It can visualize source code, organizing it into hypotheses andpresent contextual information to the data workers.

Data workers use two modalities in their work: Scripts andcomputational notebooks. Through interviews and observations, westudied the tradeoffs between these modalities and identified thepain points data workers face.

To help students learn the practical know-how of statistical analysis, wedeveloped StatPlayground. It is a web-based simulation tool that usesvisualizations to help students self-learn statistical concepts.

To better support the data-driven, non-linear, and iterative nature of datascience programming, we developed StatWire, a hybrid-programminginterface for R, a common programming language for statisticalcomputing.

Statsplorer guides novices in selecting the appropriate statistical testsbased on their research questions. It prevents common mistakes withstatistical analysis.
