Project 365 is about growth as a photographer and documentingthe world around you. It is also about becoming more aware of yoursurroundings and capturing moments in your own life. During 2010,I will shoot every day and each day select a single photograph. Atthe end of the month, I’ll publish this magazine.

Day One: January 1, 2010Petsmart, Alexandria, VA

Yes, you’re going to see a lot of my husband during the year. Herehe is on Day 2 (1/2) playing internet poker and on Day 3 (1/3), sleep-ing. These two activities cover much of our down-time.

George got up early for a classthe entire first two weeks ofJanuary. This afforded twosunrise pictures. You are unlikelyto see any other sunrise imagesthis entire year. (Day 4, 1/4)

On the right, you have me. Thiswas taken with the help of mybathroom mirror. My first 365Project heavily featured bath-room mirror self-portraits andI doubt this year will be anydifferent. (Day 5, 1/5)

Day 7 (1/7): VianeyWhen people don’t know they’rebeing watched, they act differ-ently. I watched one of ourgroundskeepers draw this word inthe snow very carefully, outliningeach word with care. I laterlearned that Vianey is a woman’sname, which made this momenteven more special.

Day 8 (1/8): ChopsticksBangkok 54, my new favorite Thairestaurant

Day 14 (1/14): Multiply

With Photoshop, it is relatively easy to combine frames to put mul-tiple copies of a single person in an image. This was another fa-vorite technique of mine in 2008.

Day 31 (1/31)

I’m now one month into the 365 Project. So far, it’s been a rous-ing success! Already, 15 of my top 50 most interesting photos onFlickr (as determined by complicated algorithms out of my control)are from this project - an impressive fact, if you ask me.

I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing my project thus far. If you haveany comments, please do drop me a line - you’ve been seeing myemail and website at the bottom of the page for some time now.Look for February 2010 in about a month!
