  • Sunday morning meditationsSunday morning meditationsSunday morning meditations “...Sit and rest and refresh your soul. Eat of the fruit and drink the wine. All, all is yours, and you are welcome.” —The Science of Mind text

Are you feeling a bit rushed? Overwhelmed? Troubled? Or are you filled with gratitude and needing an quiet time to take it all in? For all of this and more the Sunday morning meditation is where you will find the perceptive reception your spirit desires. Led by practitioner Malené Njeri, it lasts for 35 minutes, ending in time to comfortably get into the 11am celebration. There is music to enhance as you are guided into a restful state, and inspirational readings to tap into your spiritual center. Most sessions will end with a spiritual mind treatment based on the theme of the readings. SUNDAYS 10:15-10:50AM, in the Hopkins Room, on the second floor of the Learning Center.

Shawn Madden, originally from Banning, Calif., has lived a number of places and is now a musical nomad. He holds a Bache-lor’s Degree from Berklee College of Music,

where he was chosen as the student commencement speaker to a crowd of 5,000. While at Berklee, he led the production of a live performance of the Beatles’ Abbey Road twice: first with an ensemble of 16 players, then with 21 pieces. In 2000, he enjoyed ten months of singing with Boston a cappella group Similar Jones — at that time a six-voice, all-male band. Shortly before graduating in 2002, he bought a busking amp and hit the platforms of Boston’s red and green subway lines, beginning his long and illustrious solo career. In June of 2011 he had the wonderful fortune to play percussion and sing with Peter Yarrow — twice: once at a beautiful concert in Austin, and then the next evening on the main stage at the Kerrville Folk Festival. 2012 marked the beginning of a new era in his creative livelihood, beginning with a 100-day journey called the “Fully Alive Tour 2012.” This is his first visit to Creative Life; he’ll perform at both celebra-tions on SUNDAY, AUGUST 25. www.shawnmadden.netwww.shawnmadden.netwww.shawnmadden.net

Jack Fowler was signed to a major songwrit-ing contract at 19, when he began writing and performing with well-known contempo-rary Christian artist, Kathy Troccoli, which

produced a Top Ten hit in the Christian market, and landed Jack a tune on Kathy’s debut pop album, pro-duced by Ric Wake, best known for his work with Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. In 2003, Spanish pop superstar Naim Thomas recorded Jack’s song “Caliente,” which became a number one song and video in Europe and Mexico. In 2004, Jack’s songs, “God Will Take Care of You,” was released on a CD by David Phelps, bestselling and Dove Award-winning lead vocalist of the Gaither Vocal Band. Lately, Jack’s focus has shifted to using his gift as a healing agent to inspire, challenge, and spark changes in those who listen. His first project reflecting this new paradigm, Picture This, takes the listener on an incredible musical sojourn with tracks you can dance to, lyrics that question old ideas about life, “hymn-like” pieces to sing along with, and music that quiets the mind to help awaken the Truth within. Jack returns on SUNDAY, AUGUST 11 at 9:30 and 11:00AM. www.jackfowler.comwww.jackfowler.comwww.jackfowler.com

The SongwriterThe SongwriterThe Songwriter’’’s Guide to the Secrets of the Universes Guide to the Secrets of the Universes Guide to the Secrets of the Universe This two-part workshop includes a short e-book on the fundamentals of chord progression and music theory, and the dissection of hit lyrics, with the top ten most-used lyric crafting techniques. On the 17th we will cover the basics of music theory — how scales and chords relate, and form the basis for a song’s chord progression and voicing. We will learn how to map the chord progression of a hit song, and cover the most used lyric writing techniques — used in hit songs (all genres, not just country

music). On the 24th we will delve into the process of connecting to the power of the subconscious to lift our lyrics from the bland to the inspired. With group exercises that teach how to “tap in” to the higher source and become a conduit for exceptional thought. You will learn five ways to put your lyrics on the fast-track to becoming more pow-erful, more meaningful and truly inspired. The “story elements and fundamentals of good storytelling” chapter will also benefit the story writers and poets out there. So don’t worry if you don’t know how to play an instrument. SATURDAYS, AUGUST 17 & 24, 1-5PM. Cost is $125, due on registration. Here’s a non-certificated, ongoing personal growth class, created and led by Ellie Tillmans, who says, “I think there is a need to really look at what our heart’s desire is and then determine an actionable plan to achieve it. This study has hands-on exercises, providing for wonderful cooperative sharing. It’s based on the book, WishCraft, by Barbara Sher, with other exercises as well. My goal is to help participants plot the path to their individual goals and share in that success, brain-storming and encouraging every step of the way.” Ellie is a CLC member who has used WishCraft to manifest the desires of her heart. Join her as she outlines the steps to get what you really want. The group now meets twice monthly: MONDAYS, AUGUST 5 and 19, 7-9PM. All are welcome and you may join anytime. Appreciative giving.

What Practitioners DoWhat Practitioners DoWhat Practitioners Do “Let us consider the life of one who has been more or less consumed with jealousy, hatred, bickering and resentment. He has become so isolated that love neither flows from nor to him... If he is rightly guided, either through his own intuition or by someone else, he will begin to travel backward within himself to see where the trouble lies (for trouble always lies, it never tells the truth). Through faith or understanding he determines to retrace his mental steps, to go back in imagination to the place where he is one with all.” —ERNEST HOLMES, from How to Use the Science of Mind

So practitioners pray for people? So practitioners pray for people? So practitioners pray for people? Practitioners treat themselves to know that the good their clients desire is ever-available and moved into form through treatment. The type of prayer we teach is also called “scientific prayer,” as it proposes the univer-sality of God, and therefore no separation between a person and God. We don’t pray to move God into action, but to bring our thinking and feeling nature into alignment with the idea that infinite good surrounds us, in the form of love, harmony, peace, wellness, abundance, and whatever else we can imagine. Much of this aligning comes from a person deciding what he or she really prefers to have happen in terms of life experience. In this, the practitioner assists through stimulating conversation and possibility thinking. Once a clear sight is set on a goal, treatment is then done.

(excerpted from the brochure, You and Your Practitioner)

Our Creative Life practitioners are outstanding spiritual support per-sons, available to lovingly and confi-dentially assist you, and are at your service. Each has spent hundreds of hours in training, to direct natural compassion into helping you through listening, caring, and using spiritual mind treatment — affirmative prayer — to reveal the truth of you that is greater than any apparent limitation. Each is licensed by the Centers for Spiritual Living, and engages in ongoing study and spiritual develop-ment. Have a new goal, an old problem, or a question about apply-ing our teaching? Work with a practi-tioner and watch what happens with conscious use of the Law of Mind!
