I'm here to inspire others to conduct project-based engineering lessons in the classroom andelsewhere. Project-based learning, or PBL,allows students to control the direction and paceof their learning, which in itself can transformclasswork into a fun and exploratory process.Activities that promote investigation, creativecritical thinking, and hands-on subject matter arealso central to project-based learning.
In my approach, I do not expect the students tomemorize theoretical concepts. Instead,comprehension and applied understandingcomes through actually engaging with an ideafirsthand without necessarily being able to defineit. In this way, learning becomes a fun process ofdiscovery, not one of abstract understanding.
All of the project plans by WYE_Lance aredesigned to be used in an after schoolenrichment setting, taught by trained teachers ofThe Workshop for Young Engineers. Howeverthe project designs may be implemented in anynumber of other settings. Do not use theseproject plans for profit.
