RELOCATION OF PRECISION PLANT EQUIPMENT TO CHINA FOR WORLD LEADING AUTOMOTIVE PARTNER

Our client and world leading Automotive partner required significant, time-critical expansion of its production capacities in China resulting in the relocation of an entire production assembly line. The end-to-end responsibility for the project was placed with TradeLink and its successful execution involved precision logistics planning, close interaction with client sites, service partners and our international project teams.

The seamless door-to-door transport of 3 pieces of high value precision plant equipment, weighing in excess of 25 tonnes and 106 cubic metres, from our clients Ontario plant to its production site in China. Specific project requirements included the:

• Packaging and crating of precision equipment that operated with electronic controls and sensitive to the vibrations and impacts of transport.

• Domestic & international transport without any undesirable incidents.

• End-to-end project management and close interaction and planning with client sites.

• Delivery schedule compliance, meeting the 12 days door-to-door target to avoid plant downtime.

TradeLink won this assignment based on a strong track record of managing complex time sensitive cargo and finding competitive solutions within the client’s budget and delivery schedule.

The project was approached in partnership with our client and with a common goal to achieve success in the shortest time. With the client entirely satisfied the project was signed off.

A detailed equipment audit identified unique packaging and handling requirements before delivering the following logistics solution:

• Bespoke crate packing was designed to consider domestic and international transportation, including designated fork-lift slots to mobilise and handle the complex loading and unloading procedures.

• The unique handling and time-critical project specification identified airfreight, and use of nose-door loading freighter, as the only transportation method capable of meeting the delivery schedule.

• Flat-bed, heavy load haulage trucks were commissioned for domestic transfer between client site and air cargo terminal. As an added precaution, TradeLink were in attendance for the loading and unloading.

• TradeLink’s specialist project teams in Toronto and Shanghai ensured continuous communication with our client’s site teams, providing end-to-end visibility throughout.
