Chemical Engineering Department CCB 2033 Heat Transfer Design Heat Exchanger Design Project (Submission Deadline: 22 nd Aug 2014) Design 2-shell pass and 16-tube pass heat exchanger for heating ethyl alcohol from 25°C to 70°C at a rate of 5.9 kg/s. Water is available at 95°C can cool down to 45°C. The ½ inch ANSI schedule 40 standard copper tubes are to be used for the construction of heat exchanger. Need to determine number of tubs based on heat transfer area. Based on heat transfer area, get suitable length and diameter of the heat exchanger (length/Diameter > 3). Prepare detailed drawings using CAD. Prepare heat exchanger data sheet.
