2 PROJECT DETAILS
OMEGA project has been divided into two major work packages namely: 'Optofab' and 'Optonics' under which the 'Optofab' aims at fabrication of optical components whereas the 'Optonics Technology' aims at developing systems for various applications. The 'Optofab' encompasses R&D activities on freeform & hybrid optics, graded optical thin film technology and nano-finish opto-mechanical components fabrication, optimization and characterization techniques for various sophisticated applications. The 'Optonics Technology' embraces R&D activities on enhanced vision system technologies for civilian and military aircraft, advanced sensing in the domain of physical, chemical and medical diagnostics and inferential imaging for target detection and classification.

Head Mounted Display

0 The interference filters (Anti-Glare Filter - AGF for automobiles and Wavelength Selective Reflective Mirror for Head Up Displays) have been developed and are undergoing field trials.

Digital head up display (DHUD)

o The D-H U D has been developed with dual scan raster, electronic standby sight, internally generated
flight symbology, continuous built-in test.
o The functional prototype of D-HUD has been realized for AF platform and is now being finalized for Navy Platform as well.
o The user has been
identified as IAF & Navy with project granted by ADA for developing HUDMk2AF for LCA-AF and HUD-Mk2NAV for LCANavy-HUD with a funding of Rs 2329 Lakhs.
Under this task, two types of SMCDS systems have been
developed:
o Smart Multimode Cockpit Display System based on CRT Alternate technology of Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display and Glass
based Aspheric Optics (SMCDS-AMLCD): The functional prototype has been fabricated and is under trials under various conditions.
