Project in briefThe management of archaeological sites and urban areas in the southern and northern countries of the Mediterranean area still need to be developed through the implementation of good practices focusing on sustainability and ensuring the valorisation of the specific historical and cultural heritage as well as its protection and conservation. In this framework, the ARCHEOMEDSITES project aims to increase the strategic planning capacities of central and local institutions in the governance and management of selected archeological and historical sites through the exchange of know-how and good practices. The activities will take place in Italy, Lebanon and Tunisia: mutual experiences, complementarities and common needs will be benchmarked and shared at the benefit of these countries’ heritage, which will be enhanced thanks to the adoption of concrete management and maintenance plans. The target areas will thus become potential elements for an historical Mediterranean identity respecting the environment, enhancing local cultures and having a direct positive impact on the local economies competitiveness.
