Redevco Turkey created Erzurum Shopping Center near the heart of Erzurum, the capital of Erzurum Province, providing some 32,000 sq.m. of gross lettable space. The complex is situated at the intersection of the city centre and the most densely populated and affluent residential district. Erzurum Province is the largest province in Eastern Anatolia and functions as the central administrative district for the whole of eastern Turkey. With the longest natural ski trail in Europe, the city enjoys high volumes of winter tourism, and these are set to increase as Erzurum prepares to host the 2011 Universiade Winter Games.
Erzurum Shopping Center brings a new atmosphere to the city by harmonising contemporary architecture with local and historical elements. The Centre houses Carrefour, the region’s first and biggest hypermarket, Cinebonus, the largest cinema complex, and Teknosa, the biggest electronics store. It also houses major national and international brands such as Boyner Department Store, LC Waikiki, Nike, Adidas, The North Face & Kar Spor, Intersport, Koton, Benetton, Ipekyol, Hotiç, Tekin Acar and Burger King.
Erzurum Shopping Center has been rated “Very Good” by BREEAM. The Centre is the first BREEAM-certified building and the first green shopping centre in Turkey. Redevco aims to assess all its new development projects using green building standards. Redevco has selected the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) for this, an internationally accepted standard for best practice in sustainable development. Erzurum Shopping Center was opened on October 21st 2009.
